Advantages: Doesn't sweel as much as a normal nappy.

Disadvantages: The price

When Noah was born I started taking him swimming as soon as he had, had all of his jabs. When I was little I didn't go swimming very often and as a result of that I am quite nervous in the water so I want him to be different. I had heard of Huggies swimmers so decided to pick up a packet because I wasn't sure if I was able to take him in his usual nappies.

The nappies come in a brightly coloured wrapper and contain twelve nappies. This isn't a lot and if you re taking your child swimming regualarly hen these aren't going to last very long. At the time I was going twice a week so they only lasted me around six weeks.

They come in two sizes but the ones I picked up were for 16-26lb. If I remember rightly the other pack was for bigger children. This was a bit of a problem for me because Noah was a dinky baby. He was no where near 16lbs until he was around ten to twelve months old so I just had to take a chance and hope that they fitted him.

The nappies were really expensive and I almost had a heart attack when I saw that for one pack of twelve nappies they were £4.99. That is very steep considering a normal pack of 36 nappies cost around the four pound mark.

They come in different designs. The ones we got had pictures of Winnie The Pooh on them but you can also buy girlie ones which have things like Disney Princesses on them. This is quite a ppealing and helps you to distinguish between your childs normal nappies and swimmer nappies when they are floating around in your bag.

Thankfully the nappies were fine for Noah despite the size difference. I did have to pull them up every now and again but they weren't massively big. They didn't fix to your baby like a normal nappy. They are a bit like 'Pull ups' in that they don't have the velcro tabs at the side. You have to pull them up over the waist instead. Once you have finished with them then the sides are easy to tear when you take them off.

Did they work?
Yes and no really. They didn't swell up to the size of a football whilst we were in the pool but they did swell a bit. Obviously some water got in through the holes and caused it all to puff up and by the time we got out of the pool the nappy was definately bigger than when we first got in which I suppose is to be expected. I did forget to take oneof these at one point so Noah had to swim with a normal nappy. This really swelled up but it didn't really affect his mobility as he wasn't moving around as much as a two year old would.

Over all these are good but I don't think I would buy them for Elijah unless the pool policy stated that we needed them because they are a bit of a rip off. I think they would be an essential for an older child but Noah, who is now two is all potty trained so isn't likely to need them.

Summary: Too expensive.

I managed to buy a couple of pairs of wee waterproof trunks which my girls used to wear under their swimsuits. I could just wash them and re-use them - and they sold on Ebay after they grew out of them too :-) These nappies are so expensive! Caroline xx
