Advantages: Disposable, cute looking

Disadvantages: Sizing Gaps, leakage

I first bought huggies little swimmers to take my son swimming as I had Boots which fitted from 7 - 13 lbs. These worked in exacktly the same way as a nappy with sticky fastenings to the sides only they are waterproof. They have a cute winnie the pooh design too. These were great for swimming and I had no problem with them whatsoever.

The problems started when he outgrew the XS size, as the next size up (Small) were for babies over 16lb. This size is designed to work like 'pull ups', a short style design, which unlike a nappy you cannot adjust at the sides. Although they are designed to stretch I was not confident of there poo holding ability - a theory which was proved correct when I was getting him changed after swimming and ended up getting leaked on (amen for baby wipes!!)

He is now the right size for these nappies and I am still not convinced by them - I will use the pack up but then I think I will move onto reusable swim shorts with the nappy built in as a more permanant solution. They look cute enough, with Nemo on the front and mock drawstring, but I am putting these under a wetsuit now to hold everything in, just in case, so the pattern is really irrelevant.

I do think they are a good invention, and I have seen they do single packs in tesco so I may get a couple of these for ad-hoc occasions, but they do work out expensive. They are about £5.00 a pack, and I have bought a cute pair of swim shorts with built in swim nappy in the clothing department of Sainsburys.

Summary: OK for a one off, but better swim gear out there...

I have used them once, but my son is growing so fast that there's no point in buying a pack of 12 because in the 3 months it will take to use them going once a week, he'll have outgrown them. I also have a reusable swim nappy (we use cloth nappies normally so would be sensible!) but am unsure of the reliability as they seem pretty flimsy. I think we'll be using the reusable under his wetsuit when we go from now on...
