Advantages: Fit, comfort and quality excellent.

Disadvantages: Expensive if a regular swimmer vs washable option.

I started baby swimming a few months back, and began with a washable swim nappy from Mothercare. When he outgrew this I tried Huggies Little swimmers instead as I had a half price coupon.

As I am sure you already know normal disposable nappies will become waterlogged and can cause a hygiene hazard. These special swim pants are designed for use in water.

Little Swimmers look like real swimpants with brightly coloured designs. The ones I have are not those in the picture, mine are "Finding Nemo". They are blue and have characters from the film for baby to see. One thing which seems to confuse is which is the front and back. The back has the size and the wording "Little Swimmers" on, the front has a picture of a drawstring at the waist, it's important to put them on the right way as having back to front will not stop escaping wee.

The quality, durability and fit of these nappies is excellent, I have never had any problems with leakages and they are always comfortable for baby even when wet, no rubbing or red chaffing marks.

When removing the wet nappy, you can just tear at the sides which makes getting them off a wriggly, damp baby much easier.

They come in 4 sizes. Extra Small (3-6kg) Small (7-12kg), Medium (11-15kg) and Large (15+kg). The number of nappies you get in a pack goes down as they get bigger (just like normal disposable nappies) the small size pack has 12 nappies. All packs cost approx £5, which for the small size means just over 40p per nappy.

In summary, I think these nappies are excellent swim nappies but not the most cost effective option on the market if you swim regularly. The washable nappy I bought was the same price as 1 pack of Little Swimmers. I think while baby is growing quickly they may still be cost effective but once you can get a washable one that will last more than 3 months of growth this becomes the cheaper alternative.

Having said that they are often promoted with money off vouchers from supermarkets/online baby clubs. For example join huggies club and get a £2 voucher (for any nappies). Sainsburys & Nectar sends out vouchers for nappies, swim nappies and wipes every few months. Also they are currently half price in Tesco.

Summary: Happy Swimming!

These were great for when Harry was small, although they were expensive.
