Advantages: they work
Disadvantages: price
Clever invention these: a cross between a nappy and a baby's swimming trunks. Ever wanted to take a non potty trained baby in the pool, but been afraid they make leak some maltesers into oncoming swimmer's mouths? Well here's the answers.
The good bit is that they work. They don't look much different to normal nappies, but they are waterproof. We've taken the baby in in a normal nappy once (when we forget these) and they swell up and leak crystals everywhere. Not so with these huggies. They look dead cute too!
They only come in two sizes, so you have to go for the closest and hope they're tight enough to protect! Ours were a bit big on Noah, but they still did the job so you can rest assured there.
The down-side is the price: £5 for 12. This is ridiculous, especially when you think your baby may not even wee or poo, but are they re-usable: no! This really puts them in the 'very occasional use' bracket, which is a shame as it would be nice to think they wouldn't be charging the earth for something just a bit more special than a normal nappy.
You can buy them in different styles - we went for Winnie the pooh, which is ironic as they are all about preventing poo from getting into the pool in the first place.
All in all, they work, but the price means it's so expensive you may as well save the money and get your own swimming pool and let the little treasure wee and poo in it as much as they like.
Summary: if you can afford it

- 13/07/09 They actually come in 4 sizes - XS, S, M and L. And don't forget the amount you get varies according to the size so it isn't necessarily going to be £5 for 12. |
