Advantages: comfortable, fit well
Disadvantages: do not work properly
I have used these recently with my grandchildren when I took them swimming. I found that they were quite difficult to use but that once on they were comfortable and enabled us to go swimming with confidence. They do have some flaws though.
These are nappies which babies can wear whilst in the swimming pool. They are waterproof. If you took a baby in a pool in a normal nappy it would break down and dissolve into the pool which is not a good idea! These nappies are designed especially for swimming so that they will not break down.
Unlike normal nappies these swim nappies are stepped into so you have to shuffle them up your little one's legs which can be a bit awkward to do especially if your little one isn't co-operating. This has to be the way they are designed though as if they did just fit on by having sticky bits securing them like a normal nappy then there would be a chance of the stick tab coming undone in the water.
When taking the swim nappy off it's even harder because it's expanded with the water and is also wet so it is hard to wriggle it down your little one's legs. It's even harder if there is something inside there so it can get messy! It is certainly not something which you can do with ease that's for sure!
Whilst the nappy is on though it seems very comfortable, it doesn't stick to their skin or pull tightly around the tummy or legs even when it expands with water which is surprising.
The sizing of these are quite varied- they seem to accommodate a wide age range- put it this way- my two year old granddaughter is still in the same size as she was at 6 months and they still fit fine! It's amazing how they can fit such a wide range of sizes and still be comfortable!
These do contain solids well, we have never had a leak or a problem. The only problem is when it's time to take the nappy off then it is quite awkward to do. I have found though that sometimes wees do leak from this but you don't notice it as baby is usually in the water so you wouldn't notice the leak the only reason why we have noticed is that our granddaughter has taken to weeing every time we lift her out and so suddenly it escapes through the sides of the nappy. If we were in the pool we would not have noticed this so I think actually these nappies are not as good as you think they are!
I am very grateful that they do contain solids and no leaks happen in that department, that is what is most important to me and to other swimmers around I am sure.
They are comfortable and they are cute with pictures of Finding Nemo on them.
It's just a shame that they do not work as well as they should do and that they are so awkward to get on and off. just 3 out of 5 stars for me for these.
Summary: 3 stars
