Advantages: stops poo in the pool, does the job

Disadvantages: expensive, a tight fit

Who on earth is going to be interested in an opinion about nappies I asked myself. Well, you just might be because the holiday season is looming and if your little angel is still in nappies, then you are going to need some protection for them if you take them into the sea or swimming pool.

My own little angel is eight months old and we have been going swimming since he was six months. I looked around at the range of swimming nappies available, including re-usable ones, but decided to try these as they were recommended by a friend.

Huggies little swimmers are like pull up pants but specially designed for use in water. They are made from an ?unique absorbent material? which protects but does not swell in water. The legs have the usual elasticated seams which stop any leaks and to help ease of removable after the swim, they have easy to rip tear away sides.

The reason for using these nappies does not appear to be to stop the sea and swimming pools from being contaminated by wee ( many adults pee in the sea!) but from poo, which is not only unpleasant, but also a health risk.

These nappies do stop poo from leaking out, and also somehow it doesn?t let it get that wet either so when you rip the nappy off, you are not splattered in watery runny poo either, which is a real blessing.

The nappies come in a range of colours ( blue, pink, purple etc.) and a range of sizes to suit your baby. They are decorated with suns, buckets and spades, which I think is wasted on a eight month old but I am sure they feel it appeals to some adults!!

My opinion on these nappies is that they do do what they are intended for. They are one time use only, so it could end up being expensive if you are going in and out of the water frequently. They have a nice snug fit and are a good idea to prevent pools and the sea from being contaminated by baby poo. The dont leak and they stay up once you get them on. The one criticism I would have is that
they are terribly difficult to pull up for some reason. But once they are on, the really do work.

These little nappies are expensive, at £4.99 for a pack of 12 which works out at over 41pence a nappy! I would recommend them, but I wish that Huggies would adjust the price to bring them more in line with regular nappies.

For those of you interested in this sort of thing, they are made by the Kimberly ? Clark Corporation and you can contact them at :-

If you spend 10quid in mothercare at the moment u get a voucher book and one of the vouchers is buy one get one free on these nappies! so that only works out 20p a nappy so not so bad then.
