Advantages: Cute design, lots of discount available.

Disadvantages: They leak, give off a chemical smell.

As a first time mum I had no idea about nappies and which brand to opt for and there were a lot of opinions out there. When I was pregnant i received money off coupons for Huggies and also through the many baby clubs so each time I had a voucher I stocked up on a pack of nappies.

My son is a long, thin baby who wriggles immensly when having a nappy changed and he also fills the nappy like a trooper with smelly runny poo and lots of wees!

In the hospital I had taken Huggies Nappies in my changing bag and whilst there I received a Bounty pack with some pampers nappies so used them both. I had been warned that Huggies nappies didn't contain the smell of wee or poo and this had put some friends off them and also that they leaked, I decided to give them a try and see how I got on.

During our time in hospital I got on well with the HUggies and having never changed a nappy before I seemed to be doing well but when we got home it all seemed to change and each time we put a nappy on him when he did anything it leaked! We decided to not use them and switched to the stock of Pampers that I had also stocked up on meaning that I had 5 packs of Huggies to use. Hubby point blank refused to use them as he was fed up of Alex sitting in his own waste when we were out in the pram and asleep so we couldn't tell of the situation he was in, so when I had some clothes to return to Asda I decided to take two packs of the nappies back and exchange them for another brand leaving me with just 2 full packs and the pack that was open.

After a week we stopped using Huggies as they just didn't seem to suit Alex's bodyshape very well and they seemed a lot bulkier than the pampers which I didn't like especially as they didn't seem to contain the waste.

The nappies are soft and contain plenty of stretch, the two tabs on either side are strong and we have never had them come unstuck which is a plus but sometimes I struggled to open the tab when fastening the nappy as they occasionally are a little too adhesive!
What I like about the nappies is that they have a Winnie the pooh design and they are very soft with plenty of areas where there is extra stretch which is good for an active baby.

The problem with the nappies as I mentioned before is that they really do not protect baby.....or so I thought, I realised I needed to use the nappies I had taken out of the packet before we could move onto Size 2 as Alex was a way off upgrading to the larger nappy. I decided I would use Huggies whilst at home so I could keep an eye on any accidents and spillages in the nappies and make sure Alex was changed pretty much straight away. One day it clicked to me why they were always leaking.

With all nappies they have an internal frill which is meant to contain baby's poo and prevent it from leaking, when I had previously been putting these nappies on Alex the frill had been flat and not covering the bits it needed to thus causing the leak of poo. As soon as I made sure when I opened the nappy out that I stretched it and the frill went just inside his thighs we had no more leakages!! Success and the nappies soon got used without us having any little mishaps.

Huggies are not my first choice and I still prefer Pampers for Alex they do not seem as rough at the fastenings as the Huggies Nappies do and they are definately not as bulky. Huggies do however give off an unpleasant chemical type smell when he does a wee and it really does not smell to pleasant and we always try to change him as soon as we can.

I would definately say give Huggies a try if you haven't tried them you will either love them or hate them but find which brand suits you and try not to bulk buy until you know which brand you prefer.

Summary: Make sure its secure!
