Advantages: Smell wonderful, work well at cleaning a stinky bum

Disadvantages: ----------

Despite the fact that I am generally not a fan of Huggies baby wipes, knowing my granddaughter was due to visit and having very little choice in my local chemist I ended up buying Huggies Soft Skin wipes as they were the only branded product available.

The wipes are actually much better than others in the Huggies range. These are enriched with Shea Butter which Huggies have referred to as 'Nature's Moisturiser' and they smell absolutely divine.

The wipes themselves are thinner than most Huggies wipes, which is a plus point as generally I find this brand of wipes too thick to be able to clean my granddaughter's bottom properly even if thicker wipes are handy for wiping her hands and face. They also seem much softer than other Huggies wipes and are not as 'wet', which is a major bugbear of mine with this particular brand.

When I came to change my granddaughter I was very impressed with the cleansing abilities of the wipes. She always seems to save her smelly nappy of the day for when she visits me and these Soft Skin wipes coped admirably, even though she was somewhat plastered by the time she came in from the garden to tell me her nappy needed changing! On this instance I had to use three wipes because of the mess she had gotten herself into, but subsequent dirty nappies have needed just two wipes - one to clean the mess and the other to double check all the poo has been removed from the creases of her bottom and legs.

When changing a wet nappy just one wipe is needed as these wipes keep their shape and are strong enough not to tear or rip while in use. I'm impressed at how strong these wipes are actually. In my experience Huggies wipes are usually ridiculously thick but I don't find them terribly strong, having long nails I often accidentally tear them as I am changing my granddaughter. This didn't happen with these Soft Skin wipes and I have not had one rip on me yet.

I'm not sure how moisturising these are really. I'm sure the Shea Butter does have some beneficial effects, but my granddaughter doesn't really suffer with dry skin on her bottom. I think the only time she would have need of a moisturising wipe would be when she is teething and this causes her to suffer from nappy rash. Then, however, I think these wipes would be rather too scented so I wouldn't use them for fear of making her even more sore.

I suppose if you were to regularly use these wipes the moisturisation would become more long term and perhaps this would help avoid your little one getting nappy rash. I can't really comment on this though as my granddaughter has been lucky and only ever comes down with a sore bottom when she has a tooth coming through - and then all the Shea Butter in the world wouldn't be able to stop it until the rash has run it's course and the tooth is through!

I paid £2.39 for this packet of wipes, although the range is currently on BOGOF so I ended up with two packets for this price. I have to say these are the best in the Huggies range in my opinion and I'm really glad I decided to try them despite having bad experiences with this brand in the past.

Summary: The best wipes in the Huggies range as far as I'm concerned, and they smell great!

I'm slowly warming to Huggies wipes (probably cos they are on offer most often) so I will have to give these ones a try. Great review.
