Advantages: Cheap when on offer

Disadvantages: Leaky!!

In Little Man's 2 and a half years I have flitted between Pampers and Huggies as he has grown. At the moment my Nappy of choice is Pampers Active Fit (the purple ones) but when I saw that Huggies Super Dry were on buy one get one free in Tesco last week, which equalled 104 size 4+ nappies for £9.95, I thought they were worth a try.

The nappies come in a bright blue packet with a picture of a baby and Roo from Winnie the Pooh on the front. They also boast 12 hrs dryness, so I thought these would be great for overnights which is when the Pampers sometimes leaks - although I think it's more to do with my guzzling son than the nappy! The Nappies have a picture of Pooh Bear on the front and Tigger on the back which Little Man loved. They felt slightly silkier than my usual nappy, and a bit thinner as they didn't appear as bulky under clothes. One of the good things about Huggies is they have elastication to the back waistband, which fits well over Little Man's funny hips, and the sticky tabs are easy to undo and readjust if need be. They seemed to fit well around his thighs too, so I was not concerned about leaks when I put him down for the night.

When I went to get him in the morning he was soaking - not just his pyjama bottoms as I sometimes got with the Pampers, but his top, sheets and duvets all needed to go in the wash. However, I was happy to give the nappy the benefit of the doubt as he could have just drunk more than normal the night before. However, he then proceeded to leak through his vest and Jeans after about 2 hours of wearing the nappy. He had only had a small cup of milk, and had not been particularly active causing the nappy to shift and the fit was still good when I changed him, but the white nappy front had gone yellow and was damp to the touch which makes me think they are just not very absorbent. Luckily I had no trouble with them leaking poo, which I think is because they fit well, but I wouldn't want to test them on a little one with an upset tummy. I persevered with these until the next morning, changing him every hour or so, but he was starting to get a bit sore around his bits so I gave up and went and bought Pampers.

These nappies just didn't work for us, and I was really disappointed as I expected more from Huggies. I know other people absolutely love these, and I have found that friends with girls seem to prefer them. I have now given these away, and will be sticking with my Pampers until we manage to crack potty training! I'm just glad I got them while they were on offer, but I don't think I'll be tempted to try another brand no matter how good the price...

Summary: Didn't work for Little Man
