Advantages: Lovely smell, thick and moist
Disadvantages: Can tear easily
When I first entered a world of motherhood, I tried many different brands of nappies. I stocked up before my little bundle of joy arrived (this was 16 months ago now) so whenever I saw branded nappies on sale I brought some. At the time I only went for branded wipes such as Pampers and Johnsons as those were the brand I knew of and I had some friends that already used them.
When I eventually run out of my rather large stock of various brands of wipes, I have decided to try Huggies wipes; they were on offer at the time (I never brought or would buy wipes on full price) and have not previously used them. I have been using them since, to be quite honest I am not sure how long ago it is now, but I would say it is easily over 12 months now. Here is why . . .
***Varieties and packaging***
Huggies come in 4 variaties: Pure (cream coloured packaging), Natural Care ( in green packaging), Soft Skin (orange packaging) and also the Everyday Baby range (this one has white packaging with multi-coloured hand prints on it). I have tried all varieties now and I am very happy with all of them. Each of the varieties is slightly different as the name will give away, Natural Care ones contains Aloe and vitamin E (as per note on the packaging) and Soft Skin is enriched with shea butter. All varieties have similar packaging (it is now different from picture you see above though). Everyday Baby wipes have multi-coloured hand prints on the packaging, the rest of them have little baby pictured on it, all in slightly different position and each variety has different baby on it - in case you would like to know this although I do not think it all too important.
There is 64 wipes in each pack which is standard I would say. Overall packaging is quite good and strong it has clear plastic tab in the middle of packaging where you take your wipes out from, this can be easily re-sealed. I found that glue on the tab holds quite well even after opening and closing it numerous times and wipes do stay nice and moist for many days after pack has been opened.
***Quality and usage***
Quality of wipes is very good. I love the smell of them all, to me all varieties smell very similar but I am sure that some people might smell big difference between them. I might not have that strong sense of smell. They all have little tedy bear and paws prints on them which I think is a nice touch and it looks really cute. Wipes are very soft compared to other wipes I have used before and are thicker which is bonus for me. They are standard size wipes, i dont think they are any bigger or smaller than other brands wipes.
Using the wipes is very easy as with all the wipes, they are nice and moist but not too wet to leave your babies bum wet after using. They do claim on the packaging that they "help prevent the causes of nappy rash naturally" - I have been using them and my daughter did have a nappy rash, i do not think any wipes can preven your baby getting sore bum. I use them for almost everything though, I carry them in my bag and have one pack in the car. They are suitable for wiping baby's bum, mouth, hands, food tray etc however I use them to wipe my leather sofa too (so far they have never left mark on anything). I sometimes use them to wipe my daughter clothes after she spilt something on them, I find that it washes better if its wipes with the wipe beforehand (not when the food has already dried on though). Only downside I would say it that they do not stretch like other wipes might do, to me is not a problem as I don't mind that. They can also tear quite easily when you are taking them out of the pack, but with time I got used taking them out without tearing them.
***Price and availability***
RPP for Huggies wipes (pure, soft skin and natural care) is £2.59 for 64 which to me is absolutely ridiculous price. I buy them only when they are in offer, Sainsbury's often have offer on to buy 1 get 2 free on single packs. They are also available from any other supermarket but for example Boots frequently sell them for £1 on again on offer. Everyday use range Huggies cost just 97p per pack on full price which is brilliant as they are as good as the others, but again Sainsbury's had them on offer the other day for 67p per pack - bargain!!!!!!
I think it's quite clear from this review that I very much like using Huggies wipes and will continue use them. I think they are overpriced but I shop around and buy them in bulk when on special offer. If you do not like thick wipes that do not stretch though, I would recommend using other brands.
Summary: Great wipes for everyday use (only when purchased on offer)
