Advantages: A wider size range for the growing child

Disadvantages: The adventurer size leaks!!!! The different sizes can get confusing!

**** UPDATED OPINION ****

It was some time ago when I wrote this opinion about the 'new look' Huggies nappies and at the time the jury was still out. Well I have now reached a verdict and it is a unaminous thumbs down!!! Sorry huggies but I am very disappointed. The freedom nappies were ok. I was happy with them. However when my little man grew into the next size I had major problems.

The adventurers range actually sound very good. They are designed with a mobile baby/toddler in mind. The idea being that babs would have better mobility with a less bulky nappy. Great I thought, wonderful idea huggies!!! Until..... !! After weeks of breakfast nappy changes entailing a vest in soak and strip washing my son because his morning 'poop' was all up his back (one time up to his neck!! yuk!) it dawned on me that perhaps it was the 'new look' nappy. Yes huggies they do give better mobility but alas in doing so they now fail to do what a nappy should! Contain mess!!!!

I would not recommend huggies now at all to anyone, or at least not the adventurer range for older babies/toddlers. I have switched to pampers and am considering writing to huggies to complain!!! Has anyone else had similar problems to me? Or is it just the way my son poos?????????!!!!!

**** ORIGINAL OPINION ****

All you Huggies users out there have probably by now noticed a big change recently. Yes Huggies have re-invented their nappies, with a whole new look, size range and hopefully better nappies. Bewarned however that the new size range can cause some confusion at first!! Huggies have been advertising in parenting magazines about their 'new look' so this should be common knowledge. I thought I would spin a wee yarn just to inform those of you who, like me didnt read the advertisements until AFTER the changes came about!!!!

Firstly huggies have now divided the size ranges up into different catergories dependent
on age. There are three catergories which are:

Beginings
Freedom
Adventurers

This new nappy range is, according to Huggies 'Tailored for each stage of your babies development'. The idea being that each stage will be exactly the right size and fit for your baby be he/she newborn, crawling or toddling.

The differing catergories are very easy too spot as they are packaged in a very attractive and colourful way. Yellow for Beginings, green for freedom and orange for adventurers. There are a number of different size ranges available within each catergory which are:

BEGININGS

Newborn (called Newborn) 2-5kg/4-11lbs
Small (called mini) 3-6kg/7-13lbs

FREEDOM

Small/Medium (called Midi) 5-9kg/11-20lbs
Medium (called Maxi) 8-14kg/18-31lbs
Medium/large (called maxi +) 10-16kg/22-35lbs
Large (called Junior) 12-22kg/27-50lbs

ADVENTURERS

Medium + (called maxi/maxi +) 9-15kg/20-33lbs
Large + (called junior/junior +) 12kg+/27lbs+

I have just started on my first pack of Freedom nappies and am a liitle unsure. Firstly talk about confused! Which size do I choose??? they overlap a lot, which only served to confuse me in the shop when trying to choose which ones (I had a screaming, teething 11 mth old with me and was on auto pilot having had NO sleep the night before!!) I eventually chose what I hope are the right size for my little terror.

Now maybe I am just stuck in my ways, but I am really not sure if I like this new nappy! It seems with a wiggling baby who is trying to roll/crawl away that they are harder to put on!!! I have compared the 'new' nappy with an 'old' one and the only difference that I could see was that the 'new' nappy was slightly longer. I would have thought that this would be for the better. I for the time being though remain a little bit uncertain. One good point that I am pleased to see is the
'active protection' strip (the part of the nappy that is supposed to stop rashes and irritation) appears much wider which can only be good news. My husband says he dosent have a problem with the 'new' nappies and my son seems happy and well in them so maybe I am just a fuddy duddy who dosent take to change!!! the idea seems good in principle, I will keep you informed if it works in practise and would also love to hear how anyone else gets on!!!

sorry to be the odd one out but I never liked huggies. They leaked for my boys and I found them a bit on the small side.
But hey its only an opp

Many thanks for that. I now know that I've just bought lots of the wrong 'type' of huggies nappy! ( I usually use terries so had no idea of the changes). Off to tesco to return them tomorrow!
