Advantages: really do keep baby dry, help prevent nappy rash

Disadvantages: none

I used Pampers when Charlotte was born and I thought they could do no wrong. When I was pregnant with Ciaran we stocked up on the first two sizes of Pampers because naturally I would use them on my new baby.

Ciaran was born and out came the Pampers. But something was wrong - they certainly looked the same as when I used them for Charlotte, but they didn't feel the same and certainly never performed as well. They seemed quite rough and left red marks all over Ciaran's legs and boy did they leak!!

So, after much chewing of lip I decided to give Huggies a go. Wow!!!!

On opening the packet I was suprised at how soft the nappies felt. The inside of the nappy was lovely also and the elasticated sides didn't mark Ciaran's legs at all.

The cover of the nappy is breathable which prevents baby's skin getting damp thus helping to prevent nappy rash. The tabs are extra wide which are simple to fasten and more importantly stay put! The tabs being so wide also help to prevent side leakage - which was a big problem with Pampers.

I found that they kept Ciaran superbly dry - even if he had been wearing the nappy for quite a while. One thing I have noticed though is little crystals on his skin if he has had a nappy on for some time (I think these are part of the inner of the nappy). Pampers on the other hand would leave Ciaran 'soggy' - I would get home from shopping to find the nappy literally hanging off him! (and that was after wearing it for about 90 minutes!)

The nappys come in three ranges now - new beginnings for newborn. Freedom - these allow better movement for vigourous leg kicking etc (I thoroughly disapprove of this form of activity though whilst trying to put nappies on!) and Adventurers which have cut aways sides and more elastic waists for toddlers.

Huggies and Pampers are the same price - £5.65 for 34 maxi size. You get different amounts of nappies according to the dif
ferent sizes - the larger they are the less you get for £5.65. They are expensive I know when compared to supermarket brans nappies, but I think you get what you pay for with items like these. Anyway nappy rash isn't worth watching pennies for!!!

I can't recommend these nappies highly enough which is rather strange considering Pampers could do not wrong. But having used both I can honestly say that it's Huggies for Ciaran - no contest.

We've found that as Thomas has grown into new sizes, different nappies have been best each time! Huggies, Pampers, Sainsbury's and Tesco's so far.....
Good opinion!

I quite agree, though for girls as well! I too hate that gel in the new Pampers, it wouldn't surprise me if it's toxic.

Have to disagree with you here, I found huggies were a nightmar with James, pampers were better but best of all were safeways own, hey ho! ALl the best Emm
