Advantages: No leaks, easy to seal.
I have tried many types of disposable nappies in the 16 months since my son was born, but have stuck with Huggies for almost a year now.
Huggies are very user friendly. The wide velcro front is resealable many times over, even when smeared with cream, and the fact that it is wide means that the nappy can be closed without the precision required by some other brands, ideal for the aligator rolling toddler or the novice new parent. The side tabs are elasticated which allows a tight closure preventing leaks but allowing the blood to circulate to major organs!
The nappies have a great capacity to absorb water. My son sleeps on average 12 hours per night, and has never woken up wet.
The legs of Huggies are gently elasicated also. They keep in all the contents of the nappy without leaving a pressure mark on the leg of the baby.
I too would welcome the introduction of a Playtimes variety, which allow freedom of movement for mobile babies by removing some of the padding from between the legs, although the nappies in themselves are not too bulky.
I think that the nappies are competitively priced. You only get what you pay for, although the whole nappy/sanitary industry as a whole is vastly inflated.
