What's that in my baby's nappy ? (Huggies)
Member Name: jmitch
Advantages: Excellent fit, No nappy rash, No leaks Disadvantages: Watch out for the gel
When our baby son was born, like most new parents we were well prepared. We'd bought everything from a cot to clothes, a buggie to bottles. We had even bought a pack of nappies every week for the last 3 months, just so we knew that we wouldn't run out. We had chosen Huggies for our baby as they had come highly recommended by family and friends and for the first couple of months I was totally in agreement with them. The fit was great, they didn't leak during the night, bottom was dry when it came to changing him and best of all no problems with the dreaded nappy rash. We were all very happy with this particular brand of nappy. Until I noticed a gel on my babies skin, all over his bottom, all over his other 'bits and pieces'. I started to check every nappy that I was changing and there it was every time, a clear gel, sometimes it had even crystalized. I wasn't happy about this as I didn't know if it was doing any harm to my baby's skin, so I wrote to Huggies, enclosing a nappy from the same pack that was leaving the gel behind just incase they wanted to do any tests. I was very happy with their immediate response, within a week they had replyed to me, reassuring me not to worry and that tests had proven that the pack was part of a faulty batch. The gel was infact the lining of the nappy that keeps the urine away from the baby's skin and for some reason was leaking out, they also told me that it would not cause any harm to my baby, which was a great relief, but said that they were dissapointed that this problem had been brought to their attention again. The nice people at Huggies even sent me £16 in gift vouchers for my inconvenience and as an insentive to continue to use their products in the future, which I have. My little boy is now 2 years old and although we have started potty trainning I have continued to use Huggies as we haven't quite mastered the dry nights yet !! Summary: |
