Johnson's Baby Bath:
Most of us will be familiar with the Johnson's brand; it seems to be universally trusted by Mum's and Midwives and my Mum used it with me and my brother. The smell of Johnson's Baby Powder, Baby Lotion and Baby Bath must be one of my earliest memories and that might well be the reason that I find them so comforting. Unfortunately I can't use baby lotion anymore because it 'burns' my skin and gives me a painful rash but thankfully I can still use the baby bath!
Baby Bath comes in a light blue bottle with a baby blue flip lid and features the iconic Johnson's Baby logo and it looks quite kitsch. Any changes in the packaging design since I was a nipper must have been very subtle because to me it looks exactly the same. Saying that there is a little banner on the bottle saying, "new look same formula" so it must have changed! All the necessary info is present on the label including the ingredients which feature a lot of scary sounding chemicals like Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, (that name was so crazy I had to include it), so if you have any concerns when using this on a baby I would suggest a good look on Wikipedia to make sure you are happy about what it contains.
Now the real bonus for me about Baby Bath is the amazing smell. It smells a bit like Parma Violets, it has the same kind of powdery, perfumed smell. To be honest it smells like baby powder and it's hard to describe it in any other way. I find the smell comforting and relaxing and I use Baby Bath when I am down to make myself feel better; it's almost like a comforting blanket.
The Bubble Bath is a lovely clear, pale blue liquid that is thinner than a lot of bubble baths I have used but not so thin that it pours out too much at a time. You don't need much to create a lovely amount of bubbles although I can remember getting into trouble as a kid for using too much of this or Matey to make a super-bubbly bath! As with most bath products you simply add this to running water and swish around to mix it evenly. The bubbles are not as rich and creamy as some but are lovely and bright white.
The bubble bath makes my skin lovely and soft and I often use this before a special occasion so that my skin is in good condition. Being for babies it is suitable for sensitive skin and I have absolutely no problems using it. The Baby Bath uses Johnson's "No more tears formula" which they say makes it as gentle to eyes as pure water but to be honest I don't really want to test it so I'll take their word for it! I don't use it for children so this isn't a major selling point for me.
Boots currently sell the 500ml bottles for £2.65 or they are on offer at 2 for £4.00. It is often on offer at supermarkets, Boots etc so I stock up when I see it cheap. It's worth noting that the shelf life is 12 months.
I really love Baby Bath and would recommend it for babies and grown-ups too.
Summary: Perfect for grown-ups too
