Johnson's Baby Bath
Advantages: bubbles up
Disadvantages: doesn't moisturise for long
Before my baby was born I bought a lot of Johnson's products as they were the ones that I had heard of so thought they would be most reliable. When Hope was born the midwife recommended we use a different bath product to this one and so we have only just got round to using this one now that she is 20 months old!
Johnson's are very well known for making baby products and I have always liked their baby wipes and found them to work well and be very gentle on Hope's skin. It was only recently that I came across this unopened bottle of bubble bath and decided to use it.
It comes in a pale blue bottle with a lid that you flip up. This is a little stiff to do at first or if you have soapy or wet hands but usually I find with the help of a dry towel I can open it without any problems and closing it is easy. I like it being a flip cap as it means you can close it using just one hand and within a second unlike with screw caps. It is definitely well designed in with babies in mind knowing that you need both hands to bath your baby!
It smells like newborn babies! It has that strong new born baby smell which is associated with Johnson's products. It's not really a particular smell that I can describe in terms of what flavours are in it but it is a nice one, that does make you think about little babies, it's a comforting smell that's for sure!
You can use it in the bath as a bubble bath and also as a shampoo too. You don't need to use much at all, just a few drops and it soon lathers up and creates lots of bubbles! It is moisturising too so you can do two jobs at once- clean your baby and moisturise! Babies need lots of moisture in their skin, it's very easy for their skin to become dry especailly behind their knees and at their ankles and so having a moisturising bath is really important.
I find that after a bath Hope does feel as though her skin is softer but there is no long lasting effect on this. Her skin still goes dry very quickly especially on her ankles and parts of her back and so I don't think that this product works as well as it could do which is a shame as I do usually really like Johnson's things. I do like the smell of it and the amount of bubbles it creates without needing to use much of the product. It certainly lasts a long while and after I've washed Hope's hair it has a lovely shine to it which can only be down to this!
So in my opinion it smells nice, it does make your skin feel softer in the short term and it washes hair well, it just isn't that effective in the long term in terms of moisturising.
You can buy this from your local super market and chemist it is widely available so you shouldn't have any problems getting hold of it!
Summary: It's ok
