Advantages: far more moisturising than many creams, doesn't feel greasy when dry

Disadvantages: the small bottle doesn't last that long

Having tried billions of different moisturisers without much luck, I was intrigued when Johnson's began marketing their baby oil towards adults, with the claim that it "locks in ten times more moisture than many creams and lotions." I started off using the original oil, (the pink bottle) but while it gave great moisturisation, it also left massive red bruise type circles all over my body which wasn't attractive. So obviously I stopped using it. However browsing my local Boots I spied the aloe vera version and thought it was worth a try.

The aloe vera baby oil agrees with my skin entirely, and is definitely one of my favourite skincare products. I apply it to wet skin after showering, and then towel dry, patting rather than rubbing, meaning the greasy finish is removed by the towel, and you're left with a silky moisturing layer of oil, giving a glorious sheen to your skin. I simply love using oil instead of moisturising cream, especially in the summer and when in a rush as there's no waiting around for it to soak in, you can get dressed immediately without the horrible greasy skin feeling you get with most creams and lotions.

This oil does what it says... I can't vouch for it locking in specifically ten times more moisture, but it definitely leaves my skin far more moisturised than any cream I have ever tried. On the rare occasion I run out and forget to buy more oil and return to moisturing lotions and creams, within a couple of days my skin becomes dry and itchy, and leaves me sprinting to Boots to buy more oil.

The addition of aloe vera and vitamin E is great for healing of the skin also, and I simply wouldn't be without this oil. The only downside is that so many shops only seem to sell the small bottle, which only lasts a couple of weeks (although I do literally pour the stuff over me so it may last you longer!)

At £2.08 for 300ml in Boots, the oil is reasonably priced but perhaps doesn't last as long as moisturising creams, purely because being an oil it's very runny and tends to escape between your fingers as you're applying it. But it's definitely worth the money. It leaves you moisturised all day and doesn't feel like it is blocking your pores... and is also great added to bath water for a more moisturing soak.

Not just for babies!

Summary: Fabulous fabulous fabulous!
