Advantages: Well known brand, good for cradle cap.

Disadvantages: Too harsh on many young skins.

Description of product:

This product is Johnson's Baby Oil, it is produced by the well known Johnson and Johnsons Brand and has been around for ages. It is marketed for babies, children and adults with the famous 'Best for Baby', 'Best for You' advertisement. It is used mainly as a moisturizer or to add to the bath.

It comes in different sizes and the original baby oil is in a clear plastic bottle with a pink top but there are many other types available in stores now for example a green topped one which has aloe vera in it. Also I have seen a bedtime Oil also available from Johnsons with a purple lid.

Cost and availability:

It can be bought from practically all supermarkets, pharmacies, and many stores. It is very easy to obtain and I have seen very small sizes to take along while travelling if necessary.

Cost varies from store to store but roughly a 300ml bottle will cost from £2.00-£2.75.

Advantages of product:

It states on the packet that it is clinically mild and it locks in ten times more moisture then many other lotions. It can be used on babies, children as well as adults and is ideal for massage and adding in the bath. As well as preventing cradle cap.

Baby Oil does have a pleasant smell especially on young children as it gives off a clean pleasant smell.

It is not very expensive and is a brand most mothers trust.

Disadvantages of product:

It gives a greasy after look and can be slippery. Also I don't think it is suitable for very sensitive skin and it did not suit by children on their skin but was great for their scalps.

For me too I don't practically like it and occasionally it has made my skin burn when massaged on so I don't like it on my children. I have preferred the Tesco, Boots and Asdas own brand and found it to be more gentle as well as cheaper.

Summary: I guess a good product for some but not for me as I have very senstive skin.

after i clean the silver bin in the litchen i wipe it down with baby oil ... sounds odd but gives it a lovely gleem and helps keep food from sticking to it!
