Advantages: Mild and gentle skin moisturizer

Disadvantages: Can be really greasy when overly applied

One of the most useful baby products in my home is Johnson's Baby Oil. My mum never ran out of baby oil when I was a kid. Now that I have kids, I always see to it that I keep a bottle of this.

========
PACKAGING
========

The plastic bottle is colourless and transparent so I can clearly see through it what's left of the baby oil. The plastic bottle is curved and contoured which prevents it from slipping from my hand. The paper label can easily detach from the bottle when oil spills run through it.

MANUFACTURER'S PROMISE
===================

* Moisturizes baby's delicate skin and helps protect from dryness
* Pure mineral oil forms a silky barrier to help prevent excess moisture loss
* Great for infant massage and parent-baby bonding
* Clinically proven mild and gentle formula
* Dermatologist and allergy-tested
* Locks in up to ten times more moisture on wet skin than an ordinary lotion can on dry skin
* Use to soothe and relieve dry, rough patches

======
THE OIL
======

The oil is colourless like water. It somehow feels greasy on my hand. I always put on a drop after drop on my palm. Squeezing the bottle tight makes the oil run through my fingers as it is not thick.
The scent is really mild. Just perfect for babies.

FOR BABY'S SKIN
============

Johnson's Baby Oil moisturizes my baby's skin. There are times when he feels itchy even without rashes. I always consider it as itchiness due to dry skin. I don't apply it directly on his skin whilst it is dry. Instead, I apply a small amount on his skin whilst it is still damp after bathing. The oil mixes with water on his skin then I damp him dry with a towel. That way, the excess oil will be removed and what's left on his skin is just the right amount of baby oil that moisturizes without feeling greasy. His skin becomes smooth the whole day without looking shiny.

====================
FOR BABY'S HAIR AND SCALP
====================

My kid has thick hair that tends to stand at the top of his head like a punk-rock singer. Johnson's Baby Oil tames his hair by keeping it in place. Of course he can't use hair gel or hair spays yet. This oil is very gentle on his hair. His face looks so clean with neat and shiny hair. I just have to apply baby shampoo on his hair twice when taking a bath. The oil is not that easy to be removed.

There was also a time when his scalp became flaky. I massaged a small amount of this baby oil on his scalp for 3 days then the flakes were completely gone.

============
BABY'S MASSAGE
============

A very light massage strengthens baby's muscles, they say. For me, it is more of showing my affection to my child. I always make a point that I give my toddler a light massage at least once a week. Johnson's Baby Oil is very helpful lubricant when I give his feet and hands a massage. I put on a drop of baby oil on my palm, mix it with baby lotion and rub the mixture with my palms and I'm ready to give him a light massage whilst we have a 'baby-talk'.

=============
MUMS USE IT TOO
=============

I admit I also use Johnson's Baby Oil. I use it in my hair when it tends to be very dry due to over-styling. It takes a lot of shampooing though for the oil is not really easy to remove. I also use it to remove make-up when I run out of make-up remover especially the hard-to-remove mascara. I put on a generous amount of baby oil on my hands when they become dry and I wear gloves for about an hour to intensively moisturize them. I add about a handful of baby oil to my bath water once a month when I want to moisturize my whole body.

Summary: Johnson's baby oil is great for my baby's skin and mine too.

Great write up. I like this stuff. It even shines my stainless steal in my kitchen.

I put it in my bath and use it when I am wet to moisturise me - I have no baby as an excuse
