Advantages: Hydrates. Moisturises. Gorgeous smell. Inexpensive.
Disadvantages: Nothing.
Johnson's Baby Oil is a product I have used on many occasions, both on myself and on my children. It is one of those products that is almost an institution in its own right, and with good reason. I always wonder why it still has the label of "Baby" in it because clearly this is aimed at more than just the baby market.
Johnson's Baby Oil comes in a clear plastic bottle and so it's possible to see how much of the product is left in the bottle so you can judge when it needs replacing. The oil itself is clear and colourless and this fact, together with the plain packaging, makes this product look fairly unexciting when it's on the shelf! However, I personally like it's simplicity - and with the Johnson's name it really doesn't need any flashing lights or gizmos. There is a flip top pink lid, which I prefer because when my hands are wet or covered in oil, it would be more difficult to screw and unscrew the bottle top. Therefore, the oil can be tipped out easily - and the bottle can be squeezed to get more of the oil out.
The oil itself has that lovely Johnson's Baby Oil smell - which is really hard to describe - but it is a really gorgeous fragrance. I love this aroma on myself and also on my children and although it's quite a subtle smell it is also unique and distinctive. The oil is quite runny but it also feels very rich and luxurious.
I use this is one of two ways. I either apply this directly to my skin after a bath - or I apply it to the bath water itself. Whichever method is used, I find the result to be pretty much the same to be honest - in as much as it moisturises and hydrates the skin wonderfully. It helps my skin to feel smooth and really well conditioned. It is gentle enough to use frequently - I would estimate that I use this product about 4 times a week. I also find it great to use as a after sun lotion.
I have very sensitive skin and I have found that I have never reacted to this product in a negative way. I guess that because it's made for babies skin then it's gentle enough for the most sensitive skin.
This is one of the best products on the market to moisturise - and it's also one of the least inexpensive. I can usually pick up a 500ml bottle from Boots for about £2.85 - which is a pretty fantastic price. Overall, I would recommend this product very highly.
Summary: Highly recommended.
