Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Too oily and greasy, my son reacted to it
I am a huge fan of Johnson's baby products. I literally have a case full of everything for my kids; wipes; shampoos; conditioners... all the Johnson's lotions and potions you can think of. On one of my crazy three for two shopping sprees in trusty old Tesco, I put one of these in my trolley, eagerly anticipating that evening when I could test it out on my baby (I don't get out much!).
I normally use the bedtime routine products by Johnson's on my four month old son, but decided to give him his nightly 'just before bed' massage using this baby oil.
The oil comes out quite quickly, so you have to be careful as it is very, very greasy and your carpets will not thank you for it! I dropped a few splodges onto my carpet and spent an age trying to get it out!
I personally did not like the feel of it. I actually got the distinct impression that I was just rubbing fish 'n' chip shop grease into my son. I didn't particularly like the smell either; it was a bit to sickly sweet and din't smell like a regular Johnson's product. It warmed up in my hands quite quickly; this may be a plus point if you like the feel of the product, but I really didn't.
I found that the oil stayed greasy on my son's skin, so I had to wipe him over with baby wipe after had finished his massage. Hardly the best ending to a warm, relaxing massage.
It took me a while to wash the oil from my skin. My hands kept drying out throughout the evening, so I had to keep washing them.
The next morning I got my son up, and his skin was tinged pink; some places worse than others. he also had a few breakout areas where the product was obviously just too oily for his skin. A four month old with acne? Lovely! His skin seemed sensitive that day, so I had to dress him in loose fitting non- irritating clothes and just generally be very careful. I don't know if my son just had a slight reaction to it, or if it's just that he has sensitive skin, but I certainly won't be using it on him again.
I wouldn't recommend this product; maybe it's good for adults, but I just hated the feel of it.
Summary: A very disappointing product from Johnson's
