Advantages: Lovely and soft skin
Disadvantages: A bit dusty
When I had my first son my mum gave me a hamper full of baby lotions and potions which she found helpful when me and my brothers were little. In amongst all of the things was a bottle of Johnsons baby powder.
Packaging.
There's no mistaking a Johnsons product even though the packaging it very basic. The powder comes in a rectangular, white bottle which is smooth to the touch and has the lovely joined up writing on the front in blue saying 'Johnsons baby powder'. The top has six holes in the lid for the powder to sprinkle out from and you can turn it left to open and right to close which is handy if your little ones get a hold of it.
Look.
The powder looks like white raindrops as it falls out of the bottle and lands on your skin. It doesn't come out of the bottle consistently and randomly goes everywhere.
Smell.
The smell for this product is really hard to describe so all I can say is it's pretty fresh and it always makes me think of a nice and clean person. I'm sorry I can't be more specific. Possibly perfume like?
Feel.
The powder has a lovely soft feel to it and it's really light so you don't notice it landing on your body. It makes you skin feel really soft when you rub it in.
Taste.
Unless you carefully place the powder on your hands and rub it in then you will inevitably get to taste this product. It seems to get just about everywhere and even if you've got your mouth shut tightly, the dust somehow has a way of getting in. It doesn't taste nice at all and you could just as well have taken a big bite out of a rose bush.
How to use.
It recommends on the back to use after a shower or bath to keep your skin soft. In theory this is a great idea but I find that there are a number of problems with this.
Firstly I keep my babay products in my sons room in a basket but I always get him out of the bath and get him dried and sorted in the bathroom. Nine times out of ten I will forget the baby powder so we don't use it.
Secondly if I do remember to use it after a shower it's pretty dusty so leaves white marks all over your clothing. If you do fancy using it after a shower then make sure you aren't about to go on a night out and put your 'little black dress' on or it could end up being your 'little white dress'.
If you are going to use this on yourself then just sprinkle it everywhere. I guarantee you will smell so lovely and clean and feel realy smooth and soft but your partner might mistake you for the baby.
If you plan on using it on your baby (I didn't start using it on my son, who is now two, until recently because I don't think lots of products on a babies skin is very good for them) then I would recommend that you put it on your hand first and then rub it into your little ones body parts. It's quite dusty and like I said earlier it seems to get everywhere. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea for asthma sufferers as it makes me cough a bit.
Although this is a messy product, the smell and feeling of being really clean after a bath or shower certainly out ways that fact. If you like powders then in my opinion this is the 'Powder of all powders' so give it try.
Summary: A lovely product.
