Advantages: Lovely smooth feeling, The smell
Disadvantages: Should we use talc at all?
Although I have used Johnson’s baby powder on babies, I still use it as an adult, and it’s my favourite talcum powder. I believe using talc after bathing is frowned upon – especially for anyone with sensitive skin – but I do use a little, sparingly, on those little crevices that are hard to get ry! Toes feel luxurious with some talc sprinkled onto them after a bath. I also find it useful for messaging my partner’s feet – less messy than those lotions and creams. But Johnson’s talc is obviously marketed as a baby talc. The pack says that it helps prevent skin irritations for babies, and says it is “mild enough for new born babies.” 8 put of 10 midwives this talcum powder on their own children, if we are to believe the pack. Personally, I’d say the views of mums of all kinds are just as important, but in any case, I think most mums would agree with these midwives – whoever they are! Again according to information from Johnson’s themselves (this time from their website, at http://jnjbaby.rediff.com/women/baby/babypro.phtml ) Johnsons baby powder is the only one which “offers complete protection to a baby's sensitive skin. Not only is it sterilised, but also, unlike adult powders, the edges of the talc particles are smooth and will not penetrate the pores.” There has been talk of talc itself being a thing which could cause cancer. I wouldn’t like to comment on that, but if these smooth particles could in any way mean that this may be less likely, it means it’s another good reason to use Johnson’s – for babies or adults. Anyway, I always like to look at the ingredients of anything like this, that’s coming into contact with the skin. Here they are : Talc Parfum Plain and simple. Now that’s something I really like. I do like to use Johnson’s powder for myself, becaus
e – it feels so smooth it is so pure, without all those unnecessary ingredients it brings back memories of warm, childhood bathtimes (both the feel and the smell of it) Just because it has no perfume in it, doesn't mean there's no smell. There is, and it's so lovely, in a very unedrstated way. Johnson’s state that they don’t make baby products for anyone else – so the supermarket’s own label is NOT the same stuff.
