I have been using Johnson''s baby shampoo for many years, and even before my own daughter was born. these days they make a lovely one with added lavender which is nice to use before bedtime due to its lovely soft fragrant smell, which stays on your hair all night. I won''t go so far as to claim that it helps me to sleep any better but it really does do wonders for the condition of may hair and it is really lovely to use. I pay just under two pounds for a very large five hundred ml sized bottle which has a press down lid to release the shampoo itself. The shampoo smells only very faintly of lavender and though it''s not too strong it still can be detected. This shampoo is medium level thickness and it lathers up really well and very quickly and it rinses off well afterwards. As it''s a JOhnson''s product it is also a No Tear formula so if you accidentally get any in your eyes, it''s not going to hurt you. It really makes my hair look and feel in great condition and it makes it very full, soft and bouncy. I also find that i need to use far less conditioner when I use this shampoo. It''s great for all the family to use and I would really recommend it.
I purchased the Bedtime range from Johnson's in anticipation of the birth of my baby. I always do a night time routine of bath, massage, bottle, bed so thought this range was quite fitting and as a fan of other Johnson's baby products I decided to give it a go.
The bedtime range comes in a purple plastic bottle. The bottles are available in either 300ml or 500ml (aside from the trial sized bottles). The "relaxing" bedtime ingredient is of course, lavender, known for its soothing scent. Like most of the other Johnson's baby products this shampoo is the no more tears formula, so it will not sting your baby's eyes in the event of contact. The scent is lovely, very calming and much better than the shampoo that comes in the original gold, liquid.
The lid is a flip top which I found a little awkward to open one handed (considering I had a slippery baby in the other hand) so I would always make sure it was open ready for use before starting the bath.
I only used this range on my 3rd child and I found he was much easier to settle and slept through the night a lot quicker than my other 2. I appreciate this May be a coincidence but I would definitely recommend this product to other parents. I still use it now and he is 17 months old.
Johnson's is a very well known brand and one which I have always been happy to buy and try the products I haven't actually tried and bought before. This one was one which I had seen many times but not bought until around a month or so ago. I bought it to give it a go.
It comes in a transparent plastic bottle which has a flip back lid. The name clearly on the front and easily spotted on a shelf. The shampoo is clear and a rich consistency, it doesn't drip from the bottle while pouring it onto the hands. It has a nice lavender fragrance to it but not one which is too overpowering. It is just a nice scent and one which I quite like a lot. I love the smell of lavender but if you don't like this smell very much I don't think the amount of the lavender smell would be an unpleasant smell in my opinion.
It contains natural extracts of lavender and camomile and these ingredients are very soothing and relaxing for the little ones. I have 2 grandchildren and this shampoo is suitable for washing both of their hairs. You don't need a lot of the shampoo to create a good lather on the hair. A little does go a very long way. I just squeeze a tiny amount directly onto my hands and just massage it their wet hair. It foams really well and it doesn't drip down the face of the child, so it does help bath time and not having the children crying because of any shampoo dripping down their faces. My grandson is 4 years old and he doesn't create a fuss now whenever a shampoo may fall near his eyes but my little granddaughter is just almost 18 months old and doesn't like it when any shampoo etc falls near her eyes and this shampoo is perfect for washing her hair. My grandson has short hair and my granddaughter has longer hair. It doesn't tangle the hair at all and I can easily brush both their hair without having to brush hard to detangle it etc. It is also very easy to rinse too.
When rinsing it from the hair, it is a mild product which doesn't irritate the skin on my grandchildren's face or body. It hasn't caused any rashes etc and is just a nice gentle shampoo.
It cleans the hair really well, I have actually used this shampoo to wash my own hair and found it is a nice one for adults too, even though it is designed for babies and young children I do find it is also suitable for my coloured hair. I wouldn't use this one on a regular basis but I do like to also try any products I do buy specially for my grandchildren just to test them to see how they work and feel etc.
Once the hair has been dried, the hair feels really soft, shiny and glossy looking. It smells really nice the next day on the hair. The hair the next day after washing it with this one just has a hint of lavender smell on the hair and is quite a faint smell but is still apparent on the hair. The hair doesn't feel all greasy or have any residue on the hair. The shampoo just leaves the hair looking squeaky clean with no residue build up.
Is a shampoo which can be used on newborn baby's hair and children of any age. Can be used every day and is one which won' dry the hair or leave it feeling rough etc.
The quality of this shampoo is a fabulous one and it is super value for the price. I paid just £1.50 for a 500ml bottle some time ago when I bought it on special offer. I think for this price on offer is a good bargain price. I bought it for almost half price at the time and so a bargain not to be missed.
I highly recommend this shampoo if you have little ones and are looking for a shampoo which is very gentle and one which has a nice lavender smell and also easy to rinse from the hair. I will most certainly buy this one again in the future. I have not been disappointed with the results how it performs for washing my grandchildren's hair.
Also on Ciao under my username pinky50.
I give it 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
**What is it?**
Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender is a variation of Johnson's Baby Shampoo which is a very popular first shampoo for babies and toddlers. Just like Johnson's Baby Bedtime Bath, Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender provides the soothing and calming scent of lavender to aid (hopefully!) a good night's sleep.
**Price and Availability**
I haven't seen Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender in many shops, leading me to believe it's either new, or just not as well known and popular as the every day variety. I bought mine in a bigger branch of Boots, you may have to look in larger supermarkets and chemists before finding it, though with Boots you can click and collect in store for no extra charge within 2 days, which may be of use if you can't travel far but have a smaller Boots near you.
Retail price varies but I've never actually seen this one on offer or in the Pound shops, I paid £1.99 for 200ml (a small bottle, but you use less on children so it lasts).
Much like Baby Bedtime Bath, Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender is presented in an opaque lavender purple bottle, with a standard flip top lid. It's easy to find on the shelves and has the Johnson's logo on the front.
One thing I really like about this shampoo and I suppose it's key quality is the lovely smell. It's not a strong, overpowering or fake smelling lavender, it actually smells very subtle and I love it, much like Baby Bedtime Bath in the same range.
It's clear in colour and has a medium consistency, only a very small blob is needed for most children as it works into a lovely white creamy lather with lots of small bubbles. All you do is massage it into the scalp and then rinse it off, Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender is so gentle on the hair and scalp it's one of the few shampoos my daughter doesn't need a conditioner with (though we use a tangle spray after her hair has dried).
It leaves a very subtle and pleasant scent on her hair which does seem to soothe her as part of her bedtime routine - it's not a miracle cure to get your child to sleep but coupled with the complimenting bubble bath, it's a nice start to the bedtime routine and always has her ready to snuggle up in her pyjamas and drink her milk.
Overall if you can actually find Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender in the shops and especially if you like Baby Bedtime Bath then I would say give it a try - for the money and for how nice it is, you won't regret it. Overall, I do recommend it, and will give it 4/5 as it's not something you should go out of your way to find, given it's not freely available in the shops, but something I'd recommend you try should you see it.
Having already used the Johnsons lavender scented baby bubble bath I decided to try this Johnsons shampoo which has a hint of lavender and chamomile to it.
Johnsons also known as Johnson & Johnsons have been providing baby products now for over 100 years and it isn't just the babies and toddlers that benefit from their products as us adults can also use them and even one of their advertising campaigns showed how the adults were using the shampoo. Kind to a child's hair is as kind to an adults hair.
For a 500ml bottle of this in Boots cost £3.35 which should really last for at least 6 months in my house as my daughter may have long hair but it is fine too so I find just a very small amount is needed each hair wash. Now my last bottle lasted only 2 weeks due to the kids deciding to use it like it was bubble bath and pour it in the bath grrr.
The bottle has an easy to open flip top lid and when you squirt it out you will see it is a very faint lilac colour. Smell wise you can definitely pick up the lavender scent but it isn't too strong and chamomile is in there somewhere too.
It lathers up really well on wet hair and feels soft on the hands whilst washing hair. Make sure you rinse out all the lather well and give the hair a rub with towel so helps it dry afterwards. This shampoo and the Johnsons original leave my daughter hair soft clean and despite my daughter having waves and curls in her hair this leaves it tangle free too.
Lavender is known for it's soothing relaxing effects so seeing as I bath the kids at night before bed this product should help get them into a more relaxed state. note I should and not will lol. Don't buy it thinking it will make a miracle happen, but it will leave your childs hair soft clean and a slight scent of lavender to it.
Ever since my daughters hair was long enough to get a good grip on she's been going through stages of pulling her hair out and sucking it. The doctor seems to think it's nothing to worry about (but that's another story!) so I've been trying lots of different ways to get her to stop. One thing I tried was using different shampoos to see if the taste would put her off the sucking part. Johnsons baby shampoo with natural lavender is one we have tried.
The shampoo is available to buy from the normal places such as Asda, Tesco and Boots. I think I paid around £2 for a 500ml bottle.
The packaging is the same as the more well-known normal Johnsons baby shampoo, just a different colour. The shampoo comes in a curved bottle featuring a flip top lid at the top. It is a purple transparent bottle complete with all of the relevant product information. The front of the bottle states that the shampoo has the very popular no more tears solution and that it contains lavender which makes it relaxing.
The shampoo itself is a clear colour and has a thick consistency. I only need to use a tiny 2 pence piece sized blob to produce an adequate lather on my daughters hair. I guess that's one good thing about her not having much hair, we don't have to use as much product! This baby shampoo contains lavender and you can definitely tell it does from the moment you dispense some of the shampoo as it has a calm fragrance to it. I wouldn't say it relaxes my daughter in any way, she gets so excited in the bath no matter what products we use, bath time is always a fun time in our house so I don't think it would ever work in a calming way.
The thick lather is easy to wash off, though it does take quite a few jugs of water, it all comes out fine and don't find it too much trouble rubbing on my daughters scalp to remove the last traces of the shampoo. Once out of the bath and my daughters hair has been towel dried, her hair looks nice and shiny and is left very soft. The lavender scent does seem to be apparent until my daughter goes to bed. I wouldn't say my daughter is left relaxed in any way, I think this is purely just because we use bath time to play and have fun. Maybe using it on babies and toddlers would have a more calming effect.
This bottle of shampoo seems to be lasting us ages, I think I've had it for a couple of months now and have a tony bit remaining so for the £2 paid it offers incredible value for money. The shampoo washes hair with a nice lavender fragrance and is easy to wash out and for these reasons I would definitely recommend it. It hasn't stopped my daughter from sucking her hair but I didn't really expect it to.
My daughter religiously has a bath every night which she loves. The whole point of her having a bath before bed is for her to relax and wind down after a busy day - she is a child that is constantly on the go, never sitting down for more than 30 seconds so for me giving her a bath is my way of helping her to relax so she can drift off to the land of nod peacefully.
I do use products that having soothing properties most of the time whether a calming body wash or a bath foam. However, one product I have used along side the other 'relaxing' products is the Johnsons Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender. I love the fragrance of lavender and I myself find it soothing and as I had been using the Johnsons original shampoo I thought the lavender variety would be worth a try.
== The Shampoo ==
Johnson's is a brand that has been used by parents for over 100 years and I find that their products are incredibly good quality and I am quite happy to use them on my daughter. The Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender has been specifically designed to be a soothing and relaxing shampoo purely because it contains lavender extract which is well known for it's calming properties.
The shampoo itself features Johnson's NO MORE TEARS® formula which is of course incredibly gentle on the eyes should a few bubbles get in the eyes. It is ophthalmologist tested so no damage will come of a few stray bubbles and is completely safe. The shampoo has not only been designed to calm and relax but to also leave the hair "babysoft".
== Packaging ==
The shampoo itself comes in a slightly oval shaped lilac plastic bottle together with a lilac plastic flip top cap. All the Johnson's shampoos seem to come in these oval shaped transparent bottles the difference being the colour of the bottle depending on which range it comes from. The front of the bottle features the Johnson's and No More Tears logo together with the product name as well as an image of a lavender sprig which is quite fitting. One the back of the bottle there is instructions as to how to use it, information about the shampoo together with the ingredients list and contact information for Johnson's.
== In Use ==
The shampoo itself is transparent and is a very pale lilac colour which is lovely and has a typical Johnson's shampoo consistency which is thinner than an adult shampoo so you can easily waste it by squeezing the bottle too hard so you do need to be gentle with it. The aroma of the shampoo isn't overly like lavender although you can definitely tell it is lavender it isn't strong or overpowering nor is it what I expected but perfectly pleasant as it is nice and subtle.
To use the shampoo you simply massage it onto wet/damp hair and massage it in until you get a nice lather. The shampoo quickly provides a very soft white foam which is nice and you only need to use a really small amount for this to happen. I think using too much would cause far too much foam as well as being difficult to then rinse out. My daughter has curly hair which is down her back and I find about a 10p piece size worth of shampoo is perfectly sufficient.
The shampoo is strong enough to help detangle my daughter's hair before using a conditioner and it is easily rinsed out without causing her too much upset ( she is currently going through a phase where she cannot stand have her hair washed!) without leaving any soap suds behind. Once dry, her hair is beautifully soft and you can clearly see a lovely shine to her blonde curly locks and it manages to stay this way when she wakes up in the morning.
But does it relax and soothe her? As much as I'd love to say it worked wonders and sent her off to sleep incredibly easily it didn't. My daughter was exactly the same as she was when I used her previous shampoo, relaxed yes but certainly not calm! I wasn't expecting this shampoo to wave its magic lavender wand and she would magically drift off so I'm not disappointed that it doesn't really work for my daughter!
== Overall ==
A lovely shampoo with a nice, gentle lavender fragrance which leaves my daughter's hair lovely and soft. So no complaints there at all. However, I find I get the same results with other shampoos and for the price I can't see myself buying it as there are plenty of other cheaper alternatives which do the job just as well. 4 stars from me as knocking a star off simply due to the price and it doesn't really deliver what it promise.

Price: £3.35 (Boots Dec 2012)
Availability: Supermarkets, pharmacies
When it comes to washing my little boys hair I really only use Johnsons shampoo as I know there are quite a few different/fancy baby shampoo's on the market but really the only one that I had ever wanted to buy was the one from Johnson's. I use a few of their other baby products such as the lotion and the baby oil and have really liked their products so far so in the end this was the only product for me.
Johnson & Johnson is a global American pharmaceutical, medical devices and consumer packaged goods manufacturer founded in 1886. I think Johnson and Johnson have such a great reputation that I am always quite happy to use their products as I know they are going to be of a good quality. Also, to me they seem so pure and natural and great for your skin/mind/body.
According to their website, Johnson and Johnson is the world's largest, most comprehensive manufacturer of healthcare products and related services. For over 100 years, their products have been trusted by doctors, nurses and parents around the world. Their Johnson's Baby Powder was introduced in 1890 and they now have such a wide range of baby products to choose from as well as all their other brand names and products.
I had been using just the regular one but then I saw this one in Boots a while ago and decided to give it a try. I think lavender in baby products is a lovely smell and quite relaxing and as I usually give my little boy a bath before bedtime I thought this would be a nice thing to include in his nighttime routine. Johnsons say that this natural aromatic shampoo contains lavender, known for its soothing and relaxing properties. It helps your baby prepare for a peaceful sleep so that was just what I was looking for.
The baby shampoo, as you would hope, is specially formulated for baby. According to the bottle, this lavender shampoo is ideal for gently cleaning baby's delicate hair and scalp and it leaves hair shiny and softer than ever I definitely find that this shampoo is mild and the tearless formula is gentle on their eyes, just like pure water would be. I have definitely put the tearless formula claim to the test. Countless times I have accidentely got water/shampoo in my little boys eyes and he never cries, just blinks and then gets on with having fun in the bath.
The shampoo comes in a very familiar clear plastic bottle with simply Johnson's Baby shampoo written on the front and a red tear drop on which has the no more tears trademark written on it. The shampoo has a really nice clean scent to it, there is a hint of a lavender to it but nothing too overpowering, just a lovely fresh scent that makes my little boys hair smell wonderful. I only use a little pea drop of shampoo and I do find that it lathers up well and cleans his hair very well. After the bath his hair is very clean and fluffy! He sleeps well at night so I like to think that this has something to do with it and makes him drop off to a peaceful sleep.
A 500ml bottle of the shampoo costs just £3.35 and I find this lasts forever, just a few weeks even longer so I think its really good value.
*Johnson's Baby Shampoo*
Johnson and Johnson is a well established company who mainly offer a range of toiletries designed for babies. They currently offer a few different bottles of shampoo for babies and young children and for the purpose of this review, I will be discussing our use of the Lavender Baby Shampoo.
This shampoo contains natural extracts of lavender and camomile known for their soothing and relaxing properties. Johnson's promote this shampoo as containing a 'no more tears' formula and state that it has been dermatologically tested and pH balanced. It is suitable for use on newborn babies and is gentle enough to be used on a daily basis.
Like the other variations of Johnson's shampoo, the lavender variety is presented in a tall, curvy plastic bottle. This particular bottle is a transparent purple colour and complete with a flip cap lid. A label on the back gives the important product information. This shampoo has a 12month shelf life and the bottle can be recycled once empty.
*Price and Availability*
Johnson's Lavender Shampoo is available in a 500ml sized bottle and can be purchased in many stores online and on the highstreet. Boots currently offer it at £3.35 whilst Asda offer it at £2.74.
My son is four and a half but I still like to use baby shampoo on his hair. He has beautiful, fine blond hair but it is a chore to get him to allow me or his Dad to wash it. A gentle on the scalp and eyes shampoo is a must to avoid any carnage during bath time! I like the Johnson's range of shampoo and our latest purchase was the relaxing variety which contains lavender. Previously we used the camomile variety.
Because my son has short hair we do not go through a great deal of shampoo though bigger families or those with little girls with long hair will go through a bottle much quicker. I bought my 500ml bottle from Boots around 2 months ago and at the time, it was part of a 'buy one get one free offer'. I like to stock up when things are on offer and this is a great deal which comes up occasionally in Boots stores.
The bottle is easy to handle but possibly a little chunky to deal with whilst holding a newborn in a bath of water. We don't have the issue as our son is able to sit or stand in the bath whilst I dispense the shampoo. The shampoo itself is clear and has a thick, gloopy consistency which is very substantial. A little blob is plentiful to full cleanse my sons short hair. The shampoo lathers up a treat on wet hair - a thick, foamy lather which feels soft to the touch and not too drippy.
The scent of this shampoo is nicer than the original Johnson's shampoo in my opinion. The lavender isn't overpowering and certainly doesn't have a strong, essential oil aroma which I associate with lavender scented products. It is a subtle, gentle scent. The lather rinses well leaving no residue and the no more tears criteria is fufilled. This shampoo is incredibly gentle on my sons delicate scalp and eye area. He has a sensitive scalp and skin so some products do not agree with him.
Once rinsed, my sons hair looks and feels incredibly clean and refreshed. I towel dry my sons hair and find that it is left feeling soft and looking lovely and shiny. Johnson's promote this shampoo as being perfect for using before bedtime as an aid to relax your child. Our son is generally a little more relaxed after a bedtime bath anyway but it certainly doesn't put him to sleep. The subtle lavender scent lingers on his beautiful hair for a short while and Mummy gets to benefit from this as I snuggle in to him and read a story!
We like this shampoo as it leaves my sons hair feeling great and without the need for conditioner. We use it 2-3times a week as my sons hair doesn't get dirty easily and this means out bottle will last for ages as only a little is needed per use. I have tried it on my own hair but it cannot cope with my dry, thick hair so it is really only my son that makes use of it.
This shampoo is a little more expensive than others but it is worth it when bought on offer as it lasts for ages.
Thanks for reading x
While I was pottering around my local discount store I spotted some Johnson & Johnson baby products, the one that really caught my eye was a bottle of Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender. Although I am not a baby and my children are no longer babies I threw a bottle in to my basket. I really like lavender and the thought of baby shampoo combined with lavender really appealed.
The bottle is clear and coloured an attractive purple colour, the flip lid is a darker purple colour and the whole effect is very attractive. As this is baby shampoo it has the No More Tears formula and is soap free, hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested. All great attributes for a hair care product whether you are an adult or baby.
I found the flip top lid quite difficult to open, if you were bathing a baby I would recommend opening the bottle before putting the baby in the water.
The shampoo smells wonderful, it has the lovely baby shampoo smell you would expect combined with a gentle lavender aroma. When I squeezed some shampoo in to my hand I was surprised because it is clear, for some reason I expected a purple tint, and very runny. Due to the runny quality of the shampoo I found I poured more into my hand than I would normally.
I needed to rinse and repeat when I used this shampoo, not something I usually have to do, the first lathering produced very little bubbles, so I rinsed and repeated. The second time around the shampoo foamed up beautifully. I did not use conditioner after shampooing as my hair felt very soft and tangle free.
I was able to comb my hair through with no problems while it was wet, usually a lack of conditioner would result in a long drawn out battle to force my hair into knot free submission. I allowed my hair to dry naturally and it dried up very soft, shiny and frizz free and I could smell the shampoo's delicate fragrance.
Overall, despite not being an actual baby (my husband disagrees on this point sometimes) I really enjoyed using Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender and if I had a baby I would not hesitate in using this product as it was so gentle and the fragrance was really nice and relaxing.
I only paid a £1 for my 300ml bottle, I feel that is an excellent price for such a good quality product, and while it will not replace my regular shampoo's and conditioners I am more than happy to give it shelf space for occasional use. I now have my eye on the Chamomile variety.
Thank you for reading.
~*~*~ Johnsons Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender ~*~*~
~ What is it? ~
Johnsons Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender is a baby shampoo that contains lavender and chamomile, it also has the No More Tears formula and is a shampoo that can aid relaxation.
~ My opinion ~
I recently bought this in place of the usual Johnsons Baby Shampoo whilst in Poundland, I needed baby shampoo as we were coming to the end of the bottle and I realised there was none of the original Johnsons Baby Shampoo on the shelf but there was some of this, as I use the Johnsons Bedtime Bath in the evenings with my littest one, I thought this shampoo would be a nice addition to his little relaxation bedtime routine so I bought it. Unlike the original baby shampoo this one is not yellow in colour, it is a nice lilac shade, it is very inkeeping with the Bedtime range. The bottle is slightly tinited with a lilac colour as is the lid, it has the same easy to use flip tip lid as the original which I was pleased about as it is fool proof to use even when you have a baby to hold.
The shampoo smells a lot like the Bedtime Bath but has the same consistancy as the original, I also noticed that it left my sons hair looking as clean and fresh as the original.
In the evenings I put my little one in the bath with some of the Bedtime Bath added, this gives off a nice relaxing scent and my son has a little splash around, plays with his toys and then I wash him and his hair, I then get him out and wrap him in a warm fluffy towel and take him into his bedroom where I use talc and baby oil to pamper him as my hubby puts it, and then I get him dressed and put him in his cot with a bottle of milk, I think the relaxing lavender scents in both products help him calm and wind down and he drifts off to sleep in no time at all.
I love the scent of my little one's hair after using this, I sit with him on my lap and sniff away at his hair like a crazy person! It leaves his hair really soft, tangle free and smelling perfect.
~ Price ~
I bought a 300ml bottle in Poundland so of course it cost £1.
A 500ml bottle costs £3.35 in Boots, and a quick check online tells me it is availble in Asda and Sainsburys priced at £2.74.
Thanks for reading :o) x
I've been using Jonhson's baby shampoo on my daughter's hair since she was born and I've been pleased with the results. Although I've been tempted a few times to buy a slightly cheaper supermarket own brand version I have always stuck to Jonhson's as it's a brand that I trust. There is a small range of different scents available in the Johnson's baby shampoo range including camomile and lavendar. We'd been using the unscented version up until recently as I had a huge stockpile of it as I stocked up when I was pregnant because it was on offer, but now that's run out I thought that I'd try the lavendar version as the scent is supposed to be relaxing and soothing, which appealed to me as my daughter is currently teething and struggling to sleep so I hoped that this as well as various teethers and gum gel may help to relax her.
This shampoo is very easily available and a majority of shops including Boots, Poundland, B&M and various supermarkets sell it. Amazon and other online retailers sell it, but it's cheap enough to buy straight from the shop. I bought our 500ml bottle of the shampoo from Asda and paid £2.76, which is a little lower than the RRP which is around £3.50. I think even at full price this is great value for money due to the quality and you do get your money's worth as the bottle is quite large. A small blob is enough to cover my daughter's hair and as it lathers up so well I don't need to use any more than that. For a trusted, well known brand of shampoo I think the price is very reasonable. The shampoo is part of the 'no more tears' range which has designed to be very gentle on the baby's hair, scalp and skin. It's been tested to ensure that if it does come into contatct with the baby's eyes, it will not burn or cause pain. Johnson's describe this shampoo as being gentle as pure water, which is why this is a brand that I trust and prefer over others.
The shampoo comes in a reasonably large and quite bulky plastic bottle which is transparent, meaning that the purple shampoo can be seen through it. I find the clear bottle handy as I'm able to see how much of the product is left. The bottle has white writing on the front of it which has the product and brand name. It is stated that the shampoo contains lavendar extract and is relaxing. The red no more tears teardrop logo is at the top of the bottle and the colour scheme is quite nice. The bottle has a flip lid which once open exposes a little hole which the product is dispensed from. I find this handy as the shampoo is a little runnier in consistency than 'normal' shampoo and it is like a thin gel. It does pour out quite rapidly as well which can be a bit of a pain if you don't have a spare hand to close it. The back of the bottle has the ingredients as well as information on how to use it, which I think is common sense to most people! I always put a blob of this on a little dish by the bath ready to use as I find the bulky bottle too awkward to hold when I have my daughter in my arms as the baby bath is still at my Mum's house.
The smell of the shampoo is noticeable as soon as the flip top is opened, but it's not over powering at all. It smells like lavendar and it's a very natural scent with no artificial undertones at all. The scent fills the bathroom which I find very pleasant and relaxing and it lingers in my daughter's hair for a while after application too which keeps it smelling nice and fresh. The shampoo lathers up well producing lots of foamy bubbles and it is very easy to rinse out. My six month old takes after me and has very thick hair, and I don't need a large amount of the shampoo to cover all of her hair as a little goes a long way. The shampoo leaves my babies hair clean and soft but I can't say that it helps to noticeably relax her more than usual, even when I use it in the evenings before putting her down - if she wasn't teething though this probably wouldn't be the case! This is an effective, gentle and lovely smelling shampoo though and I give it five out of five stars.
Overall, highly recommended.
I've used the 'Johnsons Baby Shampoo' on my daughter's hair since she was a baby.. Although I have always used the yellow original version, was quite intrigued by this newer version of the product.
'Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender' retails for about £2.50 - £3 for 500mL and can be found in most Boots, Superdrug or supermarket chains that stock the brand's products.
It comes in a very light purple transparent bottle with a purple screw top cover and a flip-top cap. (slightly different from the picture above:)
It's got a large sticker at the front that has both the front of the bottle label and the ingredients and instructions right behind it so you can see the back of the sticker through the product which is a very light purple, almost colurless translucent liquid.
The label has a large red 'no more tears' Johnson's trademark logo which means it is 'as gentle to the eyes as pure water'.
The rest of the label has got the name of the product displayed clearly in large dark blue font against a light yellow background.
Below the product name are the words 'relaxing with natural lavender' in purple, a small picture of a plant below that, the 'Johnson & Johnson' name and 'SOFTEST EVER' below that..
The shampoo has got a smooth and light soapy gel-like consistency and is very easy to pour.
It has a nice clean fresh scent with a very noticeable lavender scent coming through.
It contains ingredients: 'Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, PEG-150 Distearate, Fragrance, Polyquaternium-10, Tetrasodium EDTA, Quaternium-15, Citric Acid, Ext. Violet 2.'
It foams easily with water foaming loads of bubbles and the lovely lavender scent floats in the air and 'in the hair!':)
The shampoo bottle states: 'This natural aromatic shampoo cotains Lavender, known for its soothing and relaxing properties. It helps your baby prepare for a peaceful sleep.'
I agree with this statement, lavender is known for its soothing and relaxing properties and adding this to the bath time routine works a treat..
The shampoo cleanses the scalp and hair, leaving behind a lovely clean fresh lavender scent that lasts long after use.
I use this while washing my daughter's hair and it feels soft and easy to comb afterwards and it smells gorgeous...
Adults can use it too, I'd highly recommend...
