Advantages: Produces lovely, smells fab and soft on babies skin

Disadvantages: No magic sleep solution and expensive

OK - I admit it, I completely fell for the marketing on this product. Anything that claims to help your baby sleep better had to be a winner for me - I bought in bulk even before our baby arrived and was convinced that that our baby would feel calmer just from looking at that lovely lavender coloured bottle!

When the midwife told me I shouldn't use any cosmetic products to wash our baby before he was six weeks old I was really disappointed - I wanted him to be a baby with that lovely Johnson's bubble bath aroma straight away (not to mention one that was calmed and went into that lovely promised sleep), but was good and waited until the 6 weeks were up.

When we did start to use the bedtime bath, we had great fun splashing around in all the bubbles, and it does make our little one smell absolutely gorgeous, but can't say as I magically noticed a difference in sleeping.

As a bubble bath it is great, lots of bubbles and as you would expect from Johnsons product, there really is "no more tears" if the product gets in your babies eyes, which obviously is a huge plus factor. As for the claims that it is clinically proven to help babies sleep better, I am not convinced - I think a hot bubble bath and a cuddle will usually make a baby sleepier anyway (at least until they are out of the bath and into pyjamas at which point the fun and games really begin!).

It is quite expensive as a bubble bath though - nearly £3 for a bottle, but it does last for ages - watch our for offers in Boots/Sainsburys/Tescos etc as you can nearly always find an offer in one of the stores.

Even though I don't really buy into the claims that the bubble bath helps babies to sleep, I still use it as the smell is so lovely and I do trust Johnson's products on my babies skin. Also, I can't help imagine how much more difficult it would be to get my bundle of trouble to sleep without it!

Summary: Lovely product for babies bath, but doesn't work miracles
