Advantages: Good value for money and don't fall apart.
Disadvantages: A bigger box would be nice.
Can I just say, I love these cotton buds? I never use any other brand now although I have tried a few in the past.
Johnson's Cotton Buds have many uses and I always have them indoors. I use them to clean around my ears (obviously don't insert them into the ear canal, or nose, for safety reasons) but I also use them to apply eye make up as they are much cheaper than those eye shadow applicators and you can wet them for a more defined look. I have found they blend the colour quite well but when wet can help give an eyeliner look. I also use them to remove any nail polish I may get around my nails without trying to use a cotton pad when I've got wet nails. I'm able to dip a cotton bud in the nail polish remover and do the job instead of trying to tip some remover onto a cotton pad and then go round the edge of my nails removing the stray polish. but also the polish on the rest of my nails! I also use them for cleaning small, hard to clean areas such as the spaces between keys on a computer keyboard, the gaps in the air vent in the bathroom that collects dust and ornaments that have hard to reach areas. They can also be used to apply creams or antiseptic to delicate areas.
Johnson's Cotton Buds are usually tucked away in the baby section but they are an essential item in my home and I don't have babies! At 99p for a box of 100 they are not the cheapest but I have certainly found them to be the best. Most other brands seem to disintegrate as you use them so you're either left with bits of fluff sticking out of your ear or if you wet them you have a stick with a soggy bit of nothing on the end. These are robust and stand the demands I put on them. I have found that with other brands I may need 2 to do a job but with Johnson's only 1 will do. There is plenty of material at each end of the bud so they do last longer and don't leave a scratch where they disintegrated when I have used them.
These Cotton Buds come in a round cardboard box with a curved plastic lid which will withstand being dropped without breaking unlike other brands where I have dropped the plastic container and then had to go round collecting 200 cotton buds because the container broke. The cardboard container is white with blue writing and a pink banner saying they are pure cotton buds...and they are as they are made of 100% cotton so are good for people with allergies. The cotton buds are made of blue plastic with cotton at each end.
There is a saying that 'you get what you pay for' and this is certainly true of these cotton buds.
Summary: A good all round product that doesn't fall apart at the first hurdle.

- 08/12/08 Some cheapie ones barely have any cotton wool on; one prod and the plastic comes through. Ouch! |
