Advantages: thick & safe

Disadvantages: price

Cotton buds are an essential in our house so I always make sure we have in a a good supply.

Over the years I've tried many different types & have found that the quality & price vary enormously.

I thought I'd try & economise by buying cheaper brands from cut-price shops such as Superdrug, Savers & the various pound shops but found most to be inferior to Johnson's.

I bought some once which were actually potentially dangerous as the cotton-wool end detached from the stick - goodness knows what could have happened had it lodged someone's ear?

Johnson's buds are definately the best I've used but not the cheapest so I buy them for the family to use for ears & eye make-up but buy cheap ones for other uses.

I paid 99p for a tub of approximately 100 but always try to buy them when they are on offer.

The tubs are quite attractive, easy to open & close to keep sterile & the buds are thick which often means you often don't use as many.

In our family they are used for many different things -

- ears (nothing worse than waxy ears)
- applying eye make-up.
- cleaning keyboards.
- cleaning difficult areas - eg around taps, sinks, plugholes, for cleaning awkward areas inside fridge etc.
- cleaning remote controls etc.

summary
~
- not the cheapest cotton buds around but the best quality I've found.
- the cotton bud doesn't detach from the stick.
- many uses around the home as well as for for the obvious!
- I buy Johnson's buds for the ears & eye make-up but use cheaper buds for everything else.

Summary: I buy these for our ears & eye make-up but use cheaper ones for other things
