Advantages: Have multiple uses - can even be used to clean the bath if you're lazy (which I am)

Disadvantages: More expensive than OB versions

Last week I had a bit of a dilemma. I ran out of baby wipes. Arrgghh. Luckily they sell Johnsons here (under the wonderul name of Hr Penaten) so a quick trip to Schlecker followed and I was soon happy again.

I used to use 'proper' facial cleansing wipes like Nivea and Garnier Synergie until I realised I was wasting my money. They cost maybe 4 pounds for 25 wipes and if you use them morning and night it really adds up. I'd watched the adverts for Johnson & Johnson baby lotion and seen how it it also suitable for removing make up and cleansing, and I figured that if the lotion worked for this then the wipes which contain the exact same lotion should aswell. Once I'd got over the initial embarrasement of explaining to my friends with whom I was shopping WHY I was buying baby wipes (no, I hadn't secretly given birth and nor was I about to) things went well.

The wipes themselves are designed, as far as I can tell, for babies' bottoms, but don't let that put you off. They are gorgeous and soft, and much larger than the Nivea equivalent. They cleanse effectively without leaving behind any greasy residue, they are great at removing stage make up which as we know can be thick, and best of all, they're incredibly cheap. The last time I bought some they were on special offer, and I got 4 packs of 72 wipes for a total of 6 pounds. That's over 4 months supply for little more than a fiver - bargain!

I've tried othe brands, like supermarket own (Tesco are the best, but only the quality version) and Boots own, but even though they are a few pence cheaper, they aren't as soft and nice and, well, the few pence extra is totally worth it. One thing I would recommend though is buying a dispenser, which itself comes full of wipes. It's far and away the easiest way to get at them one at a time as you just press down on the button and the lit pops up. Plus it keeps the other wipes nice and fresh and ready for the n
ext day of whenever. Once you've got a dispenser, you can just fill it up with the refil packs.

Next time you're shopping, pop a packet in your trolley - they're totally worth it.
