Advantages: Nicely scented, moisturising body wash
Disadvantages: Quite pricey
As my little one was born 16 days overdue it was no surprise that he had dry skin on his hands and feet. We tried baby oil but other than making him a greasy slippery mess it didn't really make much difference. When I saw this product, a body wash with added moisturising body lotion, we decided to give it a whirl.
~Packaging~
The packaging is a simplistic white bottle with the familiar Johnson's logo at the top. The reassuring "no more tears" logo is also printed on the bottle, as is the case with most Johnson's baby products. The effect is a class minimalistic package that definitely caught my attention.
The shape of the bottle is a great design feature. It is almost hourglass in shape meaning it is easy grab without it slipping out of your hands. The bottle also stands with the lid at the bottom. This means it is so much easier to squeeze the bodywash, and enables you to get just the right amount. This is great when you have a ridiculously strong baby resting on one arm and you only have one hand free! I find traditionally shaped bottles with the lids at the top, such as baby shampoo, quite tricky to remove the lid, and squirt out the right amount using just one hand.
~Price~
It's not the cheapest, I think it retails at around £2.70 a bottle, but in my opinion you pay for quality. I have learnt from experience that using cheaper products on my sensitive skin has brought my out in spots or a rash, and it's not a risk I'm prepared to take with my baby's skin.
I have found that many supermarkets, and the likes of Boots and Superdrug, often have offers on Johnson's baby products and so it would be worth a purchase if this product is included.
~Quality~
My favourite thing about this product is, as a body wash rather than baby bath, it can be used outside the bath when I am giving little one a quick wash. As my son is a huge fan of being sick on himself, we bath him in an evening and top and tail him in a morning (and whenever he covers himself in sick!). We use this product for both occasions.
It has a lovely, if basic, smell. It smells of what you'd typically expect a baby product to smell like, soapy and clean. It's nothing to write home about but a clean soapy smelling baby is much better than a baby that smells like vomit! Plus the lack of fancy fragrance is probably what makes this product great for sensitive skin.
Another plus is that it is kind enough to use on baby's face and the "no more tears" promise is very reassuring, especially with a wriggly baby! My son developed baby spots at around 3 weeks and since using this product to clean his face, they seem to be disappearing. This may just be coincidence, but thought it was worth a mention.
The added body lotion leaves his skn noticeably softer and his dry skin has disappeared. You can feel the softness straight away, even when washing with it. I even notice the difference on my hands, which are usually pretty dry, but after washing my son feel nice and soft.
~Availability~
This product can be bought from anywhere that sells Johnson's products. I bought this one from my local chemist but have also seen it in supermarkets, Boots and Superdrug.
To sum up, this is a great moisturising little treat for baby
Summary: A god send for smelly sicky babies!
