Advantages: Leaves skin super soft and hydrated.

Disadvantages: Too harsh for my face.

My daughter has really dry and sensitive skin and at the age of almost 12 is really starting to take a great interest in her skin care, which I personally am encouraging as I feel it's a good thing to start as early as possible. With the warmer weather recently her skin has been particularly dry and she asked me to take her to Tesco to get a new cream for her face and body. Off we went and after a while we noticed a special display for all the Johnson's Baby Naturals. They all looked and sounded great, claiming to be mild enough to use all over baby including her face and also claiming to relieve dry skin from the first use and with the added bonus of only costing £2.14 for a 250ml tub we decided to pick one. The Intense Moisture Cream sounded just right for my daughter's needs.

As I said, the cream was packaged in a 250ml tub, not like the picture above, rather an actual tub with a screw on lid. The tub itself was a very pale green colour with the lid being in a slightly darker shade of green. The label on the top was again in a very pale shade of green with "Johnson's Baby Soothing Naturals Intense Moisture Cream" written on it. On the base of the tub were all the ingredients and all the product information. I quite liked the tub with the pale green really complimenting the "Naturals" name.

On first opening the tub there was a peel off foil lid, which I peeled off and was immediately greeted with a lovely scent from the cream. Quite an unusual scent, a herby refreshing fragrance, which I definitely found quite pleasant. The cream itself was an off white colour and quite thick and creamy.

How Did the Cream Perform?

My daughter and I both tried this Intense Moisture Cream as a body cream first. Both of us had our showers before applying and then we applied liberally to our bodies. On the tub it states that the cream is "fast absorbing and non-greasy", well we can both certainly vouch for this. I loved the way this cream smoothed into my skin with ease and was instantly absorbed leaving no oiliness at all. My skin felt very soft and smooth and it actually felt quite unusual because it made my skin feel like it had a moisturised coating over it but without any oily or greasy residue. We were both very impressed with the result. It definitely did help relieve dry skin instantly and because of the coating it seemed to leave, that moisturised feeling seemed to last for ages.

The Face Test....

Having performed so well on our bodies we proceeded to try it on our faces. This time we weren't quite as impressed with the results. As soon as both my daughter and myself applied the cream to our faces we both experienced a stinging, burning sensation and a tightness to our skin. Although we both felt that the cream left our faces feeling very soft and moisturised we did both feel it just wasn't quite as mild as it claimed, even my eyes seemed to suffer a bit from a stinging sensation.

Overall I probably would recommend this cream for use as a body cream but I definitely would not recommend for use on facial skin, especially not a baby's face.

I was a bit surprised when I read the very long list of ingredients (far too long to mention and bore you with here), for a product claiming to be so very natural I did think there were quite a lot of unnatural additives in the cream.

I agree here, it makes J&J look like they haven't researched the product terribly well, either.
