Advantages: Smell lovely, cheap, handy, lots of uses
My children are at school now so it's a few years since I used Johnson baby wipes for the original reason I bought them - to clean baby's bottom at nappy change time. However, I am still a huge fan of these wipes as they have a multitude of uses, and are very effective at each one.
Cleaning baby's bottom is one of the major uses these wipes were intended for. My first child never experienced them as I religiously stuck to what I had read about nappy changing in some mother's manual. Every nappy change involved a bowl of luke warm water and many soft cotton wool balls. My second baby however got the relaxed, 'no-time' mother who got his bottom wiped with a Johnsons wipe in-between warming up milk, cooking, housework and feeding the dog, all whilst balancing on one leg (ok, maybe not the last bit!). I have to say they work marvellously, better than water alone, and they didn't require any extra pressure to remove any dried on bits of poo (sorry to be so crude!) Because they are so mild they can confidently be used all around the nappy area without fear of any adverse skin reactions.
The wipes themselves feel soft, have a lovely gentle scent to them and are sufficiently moist without being too wet, so baby's skin didn't need drying afterwards. The wipes are also a good size so I found that one or two wipes would easily suffice for the job.
- Moving on up
The wipes are also equally as good for use at the other end of the body too, regardless of the child's age (obviously not the same wipe.) Dirt, food/drink stains, sauce marks round the mouth are all easily cleaned away by one of these. Likewise, sticky fingers can quickly be wiped clean. The fact that they come in handy packets means that they can be carried around virtually anywhere, be it in a handbag, pushchair or globe box so they are incredibly convenient.
- For us grown-ups too
It wasn't until my daughter decided to practise her make up skills on me that I made this discovery first hand. She really had gone to town on painting my face - it literally did look like that. I wanted to remove a huge amount of make up quickly and easily without drying my skin so I tried one of these wipes. I was very impressed. The make up slid off so easily, with no need for rubbing and no irritation to my eyes. They felt soft on my skin and were not drying at all. I didn't feel the need to apply moisturiser as I normally do after cleansing my skin of make-up. I have since not invested in any expensive facial wipe cleansers since, I am more than happy with these.
- The wildcard
The slightly more unusual use I have found for these wipes is dusting. Windowsills and skirting boards come out dust-free, shimmering and smelling lovely after a quick wipe with one of these. I know it's not much hassle to get out the spray and duster but these wipes are so easy, and the dust actually sticks to them rather than being moved around like with a duster. And, because they are disposable the dust is then thrown away rather than floating elsewhere in the house.
My leather settee also benefits from this cleaning. Again, it's left smelling lovely and it easily removes any light marks on the leather.
- A small price to pay
For the price of these wipes, I personally am happy to use these wipes for all the above reasons, and have them stored in the house, my bag and the car. They cost about £1.20 for 80 wipes which is good in itself, but there is often a special offer on at a supermarket or multipack bargains.
All in all, a wonderful invention with many uses.
Summary: Very versatile wipe
