Advantages: Really thick wipes, dont irritate skin, decent price
Disadvantages: Wish they could be cheaper (I'm being fussy)
Cien Baby Wipes offer a choice of either 'fragranced' or 'un-fragranced' in a pack of 80. I purchased the 'un-fragranced' pack as my little one has sensitive skin. They were 98p in my local store. They were packaged in the usual plastic pack with the sticky cover on top where you remove them.
Why I like them:
When I first pulled one from the pack, I was pleasantly surprised. The wipe was much larger than I expected and nice and thick too. It was also a decent shape. There was no smell to them, as described on the packaging. They had just the right amount of moisture to enable a good clean but did not leave my baby's skin too wet. My daughter's skin did not react and they did the job really well.
How do they compare to the rest?
They are as good (if not better) as the more expensive, leading brand baby wipes.
They remain at a consistently low price whereas Pampers Baby Fresh usually retail for £2.49 for 74, occasionally you can find them on offer, buy one get one free (£1.24 per pack of 74).
Pampers Sensitive Wipes occasionally go on offer at £10 for a box of 9 packs (£1.11per pack). Be careful though, each pack contains only 63 wipes!!!
Johnson's also offer deals, but again they only contain 63 wipes!
They are much better quality than similarly priced own brand baby wipes.
(Tesco, Boots and Sainsbury's). You really do feel like you are holding an 'expensive' brand in your hand.
What I dislike:
If you really shop around and bulk buy, you can get the good quality
baby wipes for less, so if I was to be fussy, I think Lidl should try and compete with this and lower their price occasionally (as of yet I haven't seen them go on offer). Also, due to their superior 'thickness' they probably take a long time to 'break down'.
I will always buy these baby wipes now (unless I find an unbeatable offer on some others somewhere) and would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone with a baby.
Summary: Well deserving of five stars

- 01/11/09 very useful this as with lots of friends with babies I thought it might be prudent to buy a cheap pack to keep here, but wasn't sure which cheap packs were worth buying - will pop into lidl when I pass them in the next day or two I think - thank you! |
