      Bathtime fun!

I first came across the glow-in-the-duck range when my friend bought my son one for his first Christmas. The website for this range is www.locomocean.com, I have since purchased one for my friends little girl so know that they cost roughly £8 to purchase plus some postage, depending on which website you purchase it from.

The duck itself is a cute, small plastic duck that goes in the bath with you, however this duck is special as it lights up when it touches water!! On the base of the duck there are 2 metal contacts, that when become wet, activate the duck to light up.

The duck itself comes in a square box, with a clear plastic window at the front so that you can see the duck inside the box. The glow in the duck range come in 6 different colours, purple, pink, white, blue, yellow and green.

The duck is made from hard plastic and just about fits in the palm of my hand. I have the purple one and it has lots of sparkly bits in the plastic so is very eye catching for my son. It has lovely big blue eyes and a beautiful pink beak!! As previously mentioned, as soon as the contacts at the bottom of the duck become wet the duck lights up, it firstly lights up white but the colour then changes to pink and then to purple and the goes back to white.

The duck is a sealed unit which contains the batteries and LED bulbs. For this reason the batteries are not replaceable so unfortunately when the batteries run out you have to buy a new duck! It says on the box that the battery lifetime of the duck is about 45 hours use, which is the equivalent of 180, fifteen minute baths!

It advises you that to take care of your duck and maximize the lifetime of the batteries that you should ensure that the sensors on the bottom of the duck are kept dry when the duck is not in use.

My son absolutely adores this duck and if I don't put it in the bath with him he reaches out and makes a noise at the duck until I get it for him! He loves to watch the colours light up and change in front of him. The duck is just a right size so that he can pick it up and hold it, and of course do the thing every baby does and try to eat it! I will definitely be purchasing a new duck when this one runs out, I have also bought a new one for my god daughter as her batteries have just run out!

The LED light is activated by water and gradually phases through several colours.
