Advantages: Intelligent design, Excellent quality.
Disadvantages: I didn't get enough use out of it (approx 12 weeks)
I was given this bath from a friend in a big bundle of no longer needed baby stuff when I was pregnant (lucky me, it really helps if you get bits from other people). She had used with her daughter and said she would have kept had it not been too large to store. It cost £20 new.
**The product
The reason this bath is different from other baths on the market is that it has internal moulded parts which allow baby to be supported through his development from laying to sitting in the bath.
You will see from the picture that the first option is to lay baby in the bath. There is an integral support that is shaped to fit between baby's legs and under his arms so he is totally supported in the water. Handy for you as less strain on the back and safe for baby. It goes without saying that the support should not be used instead of adult supervision, always stay in arm's reach.
The second option is for when baby is sitting unsupported. Basically you sit the child at the opposite end and the support rises up rather as a potty support would do.
I only have one child but an added benefit is that you can put a baby and a toddler in the bath together. It would be a reasonably snug fit though.
The plastic is very good quality and there is a built-in plug and two soap etc holders.
It is larger than most other baby baths to accomodate the dual position. It did fit into our main bath - but only just. We have a standard size roll top bath.
**The reasons to buy it
It is safe and supportive for baby and puts less strain on your back than holding the baby would.
It's excellent quality and would easily last through several children.
It takes a lot less water than filling your main bath, so economic and eno-friendly, especially if you're bathing two children at once.
**The reasons not to buy it
It is quite large so check it will fit into your bath or that you can store it wherever you intend to use it.
My baby was quite small (6'11) at birth and I found he was too small to get his arms over the rest for a few weeks, not a big problem, we just tucked his arms inside the support.
Also. my baby, who absolutely loves bath time, was happier after 3 months if he was in the big bath where he had more room to kick and splash.
**Summary
If you think you will want to use a baby bath for a long time, then this one is excellent quality and intelligently designed. I did not use it long enough to justify the price (had I of bought myself) and have passed on to a new mum friend as it is too bulky to store.
Summary: Try and borrow one.
