      Mamas and Papas changing mat

When it came to decorating our nursery we went with a Zeddy and Parsnip theme from Mamas and papas. Zeddy is a zebra and Parsnip is a rabbit and the colour scheme is quite a pale yellow and greens and browns which I loved because it worked for both a boy and a girl and also is nice and bright and brightens up the small space in the nursery perfectly. Call me anal but I wanted everything in the room to match so that meant matching sheets and bedding, matching wallpaper and of course a matching changing mat. Luckily Mamas and Papas had a matching changing mat available and so we duly snapped one up.

The mat is actually quite plain and is just the nice light yellow colour with a check design on it. I like this because it is not too over the top. There is no Zeddy and Parsnip design on it but it obviously matches the whole room as it is the same colour and same checked pattern which is nice.

The mat is soft and padded so when I lie my son down on it its actually really nice and comfortable for him to be lying on. The nice thing is that there is a padded headrest as part of the mat so the head is slightly elevated too and protected and again it must be nice to lie on. I like that his head is slightly elevated as it makes it easier to change his nappy as he is at a slight angle and its easier to get to the bottom although he wiggles so much it's still a struggle to change him. The sides of this mat are also padded and slightly raised so baby sits or lies in a sort of channel in the mat. This keeps them on the mat I find a bit better than it was just flat but obviously do not ever leave them unattended on a changing table as these padded sides will not stop them from falling off.

The mat is quite long and almost stretches for the whole of our Mamas and Papas changing table. My son is now 18 months old and quite tall but he still fits on this mat so if you get it from birth like we did it really will last you a long time. The mat is made of a wipe clean surface which is a brilliant idea because if you get any wee or poo on it, and yes, it happens all the time, you can simply wipe it off and its nice and clean again. The mat has not stained or anything in the whole three years plus that we have had it and still looks as good as new in my opinion. Every week or so I will wipe it down with a proper disinfectant wipe as well to really clean up the germs.

At the bottom of the mat there is a little circle with a picture of a musical note on it. If you press this little button that is hidden inside the mat the mat will play a musical tune. The idea behind having it on the bottom of the mat is that when baby wriggles and kicks their feet they can possibly hit this button and the music will play and it will keep them entertained. Unfortunately this button stopped working for us after only a couple of months and I can't even remember now what song it played but it really didn't stop the mat being effective for us, its just a shame the music doesn't play any more.

All in all a great Mamas and Papas changing mat.
