My little boy Harry is teething at the moment, and with that comes some very unpleasant nappies. He has never had nappy rash up until he started teething when he was 6 months old, although it wasn't too bad then. But since he has been having his big teeth at the back coming through, his rash has been dreadful, and I have had to resort to a strong cream to try and help protect his bottom and help the rash to go down a bit. I asked around a few mummy friends of mine, and almost all of the recommended that I buy myself a tube of a nappy rash ointment called Metanium. I had only ever heard of Sudocrem, as Harry had never really had nappy rash, so I headed off to ... Read the complete review

Nappy rash is every parents nightmare, even the slightest rash can be very very painful and lead to an unhappy baby and parent. No matter how carefully you cleanse your baby bottom at changing time, this ugly rash will rear its spots. When James was tiny we tried a variety of nappies, some we had bought for us, some we had gained as samples and some we bought ourselves. Some of the lotions etc in the nappies brought out the most horrendous rashes. My usual regime when he had a rash was to cleanse with baby lotion and dry carefully, then allow the air to get at his bottom by leaving off the nappy. Before replacing a nappy applying a light ... Normally for my son when he has had nappy rash we have used sudocrem and been very happy with how this has worked and cleared up his nappy rash. However earlier this year he was prescribed antibiotics for an ear infection and developed diarrhoea as a side effect to this and once that stopped he picked up the winter vomiting and diarrhoea bug courtesy of our trip to hospital over the bank holiday to be seen for his ear infection. The sudocrem wasn't working and he was getting upset every nappy change or if he had something in his nappy. We saw the health visitor who prescribed this cream to try and it worked a treat. How does it work? And our ... Read the complete review

In the last fortnight I wrote a review on here of Sudocrem, mentioning Metanium but saying that I had never had any reason to use it as Sudocrem was perfectly sufficient. However, 3 days ago we got the emergency tube of Metanium out of the bathroom cabinet after my son developed his first bad case of nappy rash that Sudocrem was not clearing at all. I think this bout of nappy rash was linked to teething, but it was awful to see how sore and angry his bottom was, and heartbreaking when he was screaming with pain every time he had filled his nappy. I am so glad we had this in the house, although obviously I wish we had not needed it in the first place. It comes ... Read the complete review
