Advantages: works very well

Disadvantages: the colour

Normally for my son when he has had nappy rash we have used sudocrem and been very happy with how this has worked and cleared up his nappy rash. However earlier this year he was prescribed antibiotics for an ear infection and developed diarrhoea as a side effect to this and once that stopped he picked up the winter vomiting and diarrhoea bug courtesy of our trip to hospital over the bank holiday to be seen for his ear infection. The sudocrem wasn't working and he was getting upset every nappy change or if he had something in his nappy. We saw the health visitor who prescribed this cream to try and it worked a treat.

How does it work? And our Experience
************************************
Metanium ointment contains titanium dioxide, titanium peroxide and titanium salicylate these are water-repellantand siliconised base. It is a type of medicine called a barrier ointment.

Barrier ointments like Metanium work by forming a protective water repellent film on surface of the skin. This creates a barrier between the baby's delicate skin and the irritants in urine and faeces.

After removing the soiled nappy, gently clean the skin and pat it dry. Wash your hands, then dab a small amount of ointment onto the sore area of skin. Now you do just need a small amount and as this cream is a weird yellowy mustard colour I would caution using to much as thick cream goes everywhere. I found that just smaller than a pea was just the right amount of the ointment.

I have to say after just two days of using this cream that his nappy rash was significantly better and we had a much happier boy. By 4 days the rash had totally cleared up.

This is available from most chemists we got ours from our local Boots and as it was on prescription we didn't have to pay. The RRP for a 30gram tube is £3.49 But I have seen this on offer for £2.55 at www.chemist.net

A fantastic cream for nappy rash a must in every mums cabinet and first aid kit. The only down side is the yellow colour get every where but it does wash out of clothes

Summary: a great product for nappy rash
