Advantages: Cheap, works well
Disadvantages: Not highly fragranced
When it comes to buying soaps I'm a wee bit addicted. The reason for this is in a week I get through an awful lot of bath and shower products and suddenly my skin feels a bit congested and lifeless suddenly. Well it's bound to the amount of products I use on it and so occasionally I go back to basics for a while and try to get my skin back into tip top condition.
Having rather combination skin my shins and back went really greasy screaming 'no more over fragranced products on me please!' and my shoulders and tummy skin felt dry although not flaky or anything. It's then I shove all my usual stuff in a drawer somewhere and purchase myself either some really mild baby products or stuff that is unscented and I saw this in Morrisons priced at 27p a bar and thought it had to be worth a go! I also know my friend uses this on her little boy which stuck in my mind as I bought it and if it's good enough for him...it's good enough for me says I!
The Packaging....
Oblong, white plastic bag that is sealed. On the front in light pink and blue writing I'm told it is Morrisons 'Baby', Baby Soap which is a 'mild and gentle formulation' and is 100g is weight (a standard size). On the back of the packet I'm given a list of ingredients, warnings are given, size is stated, contact details for Morrisons are there and finally there is a bar-code on there. Nice enough, simple packaging that doesn't yell cheap or anything at you on the shelf. When you get the soap out it is plain as well so there's no saying what it is anyway so if it's good no one knows you've bought a 'cheap' product! Good start in my view! lol.
The Soap....
Well it is a bar of white soap. Hefty? Yes and quite thick. No markings on it, it isn't all that glossy to look at and aroma wise there's very little smell really when you first sniff it. What you can smell is a fairly sweet 'baby' smell that is rather creamy and pleasant but not as fragranced as I expected to be.
Using it is easy of course. Wipe it over a baby/child's or your own damp body or use a sponge or whatever you want to. As a soap goes it's really easy to use. It releases a gentle aroma, smears lightly on the body leaving you with a slightly soapy feeling on the skin and a little white lather. Not loads but enough. It feels moisturising as is easy to use to clean yourself with and not too greasy.
Afterwards I rinse it off (which is really easy to do) and when using it, it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin afterwards, I'm left feeling clean and fresh and very delicately smelling of the soap of which the smell vanishes completely off the body within half an hour anyway. Skin is left 'normal' really. Not softer, no drier nothing at all. I simply feel clean and none greasy and none dried out but I don't feel moisturised or anything. It's simply a soap to clean with.
As I said my friend uses this on her little lad and when I look after him this is what I am currently using to wash his sticky mitts. Again it works well and if he splashes his face, again no irritation so I do believe this is mild and gentle soap and he does have soft skin and appears to enjoy using it!
If I had a child I want them to smell more like a 'baby' than this. It really isn't all that fragranced and what does fragrance doesn't have the staying power anyway. It's a cheap option, lasts very well and doesn't melt everywhere and is of course a great buy financially and does a very acceptable job to be fair to it! For the price it always is, if interested give it a go! Make your own mind up! lol
Summary: A good purchase
