Advantages: More effective than other store brands, competitvely priced, "truly" resealable.
Disadvantages: Not quite as good as its branded competitors.
Morrison's Baby Wipes are one of many "store brand" wipes we have tried over the years. Prior to purchasing these we have been largely disappointed. They often turn out to be flimsy, dry and non-absorbent compared to their "branded" competitors so it was with a little cynicism and trepidation that we tried the Morrison's brand. After all how many times do I have to put my fingers through a wipe into poo before I spend the extra few quid on Johnson's or Huggies?
Morrison's Baby Wipes come in a disposable rectangular pack of eighty for £1.89, which is cheaper than big name brands such as Johnson's and Huggies but dearer than "true" budget brands such as Aldi. Opening the pack is done using a plastic, flip lid which means they will not dry out unlike the tape style resealables of other brands. Pulling out a wipe is simple enough without the need to tug like a strong man pulling a lorry. Bonus points too as only wipe is released at a time leaving just enough wipe to pull another. No shoving thirty supplementary wipes hastily back into the pack.
The bum test
****************
Wipe 1:
I have my child lay down, covered in poo. I am reassured by the appearance of the wipe, as it is just bigger than my hand at feels substantial enough. I wipe from front to back with my wipe and we have a result! No breakage's or tears. The wipe seems to have removed and absorbed and cleared a fair amount of poo and only the stubborn stuff is left.
Wipe 2:
This wipe is used to clear the stubborn stuff. Unfortunately, as the wipe is smooth and devoid of the dimpling of more expensive wipes this takes a fair bit of elbow grease. On more severe occasions of pooing a third wipe would certainly be necessary. However, the wipe is suitably moist with impregnated lotion so this does not pain or irritate my bundle of joy. Morrison's also claim the wipes are hypoallergenic and fragrance free and this seems to be with the case with only the mild combination of poo and baby lotion in evidence. They do contain alcohol but they have had no adverse reaction to my little un'.
Of course babies bottom is not the only thing we use these wipes for. They have been more than effective in cleaning her table, mucky hands and our leather furniture (just moist enough to clean without being cracking the leather) and are cheap enough not to be too economical in their use.
Disposal is easy via popping in the bin and for the non-environmentally conscious (you will go to hell for it you know!) yes they do flush down the toilet with the rest of the poo. These wipes are non-recyclable so the environmentally conscious might want to stick to soap and water and good old toilet roll.
All in all these wipes are the best in their price range. Although not as effective as their branded competitors there are more in a pack for less. As such they are more than adequate for our needs and my fingers and our babies bottom are poo free as a result of their use.
Price comparison:
Morrison's Baby Wipes £1.89 for 80 wipes
Asda Baby Wipes £1.57 for 80 wipes
Aldi Baby Wipes £1.29 for 80 wipes
Johnson's Baby Wipes £2.60 for 80 wipes
Huggies Baby Wipes £1.88 for 64 wipes
Summary: The best "store brand" wipe available
