Advantages: They have nice pictures of whales on them.
Disadvantages: They don't really work all that well and are not much cheaper than premium brand nappies.
Since having my daughter 13 years ago I always used premium branded nappies and never considered buying cheaper brands of nappies. Since having my son just 20 months ago, we were given the usual free samples when you have a baby, which included a Huggies and a Pampers nappy and money off coupons for them. These are most the well known and are popular with most new parents. Also our family bought us some nappies and baby supplies so we were stocked up, and had a few different brands of nappies to try.
We happened to have both Huggies and Pampers nappies; All in all I never got on well with the Huggies nappies with my son as they seemed to leak quite often which proved to be frustrating. So I decided to carry on using Pampers, newborns need to be changed more frequently and the content of the nappy is looser which means leaks can be expected. As they get older the nappy doesn't need to be change quite as often and the contents are more solid. So if the nappy fits well you shouldn't get any leaks.
However changing an active infant can be trying, as they wriggle about and try to escape it is a bit of a race to get the nappy on. There was quite a few times where the 'tab' would rip clean off, and the quality of the nappies didn't seem as good as when I had my daughter. Also having two children means money is tighter so we started buying 'boots' own brand of nappies which I was pleasantly surprised with as they were just as good as the branded nappies.
A couple of weeks ago we hadn't noticed that we were down to three nappies, so my partner had to race over to Morrisons before they closed and he came back with a pack of Morrisons own brand of nappies. I thought they would be just as good as the boots own brand and the price was not much different either (Approx £7 for 50 nappies - depending on size). On first looking at them they don't look or feel as good, they are not as soft and they look quite thin and flimsy. Every nappy has a picture or a whale on the front of the waistband, and a few pastel coloured shapes decorating the rest of the nappy.
My son wears size 4+ nappies, when I opened one up I immediately noticed that they looked smaller than they should. When I come to change my son I found the waistband only just fitted him and the tabs were just over his hips the front of the waistband doesn't have much extra material to tuck around meaning the nappy doesn't look secure and I can see more of my son's hips and thighs than usual. The tabs stick easily and can be re-stuck if needed, they are similar to other Velcro tabs - so no complaints there, other than my son can now take them off with ease. The elastic around the back of the nappy is quite small and above is a good 1.5cm of extra material. The back of the nappy does not fit to the contour of my sons body, and I can easily pull it away from his little bottom and see inside even when put on tight. The elastic ruffles around the legs don't fit snugly either and there isn't much extra material around the ruffles and once the nappy is soiled it starts to sag soon after and the sides of the nappy around the legs become loose. The filling in the nappy is quite sparse and when my son is wearing it I can see areas around the top of the back and sides where it looks almost see-through! Once the nappy has been on for a couple of hours and it starts to get 'heavy' it sags to one side! This doesn't look attractive to say the least.
I check my son's nappy regularly throughout the day and he is changed when needed up to 4 times during the day to keep him clean and dry. I find myself checking a lot more and changing him a lot more with these nappies and on several occasions his thighs have become damp from leaks.
During the night I don't have as much of a problem with these, as he doesn't wet as much and he isn't much of a fidget.
Overall I am very disappointed with the fit and performance of these nappies, they have to be the worst I have used and we have used a few brands and cheaper ones than these at times. These are very poor in design and very thin. Not being massively cheaper than premium brands and around the same price as other shops own brands these are a let down. I won't be buying these again!

Summary: Don't be fooled by these cheaper imitation nappies.

- 04/07/09 Just the review I needed to read. Tesco have an offer on here for 90 nappies for 35 zloty which is about £7 whereas Pampers which I believe are the best are 50 zloty. I was wondering whether to buy some of the cheaper ones and mix them in but my hubby said it would be false economy. As a Gran I worry about the cost of all these baby essentials and I think Pampers are very expensive but then it is the old story - you only get quality if you pay for it. |

- 28/06/09 These must be just about the only nappies I didn't try with our two! I liked Superdrug-own, Aldi-own, Asda-own, Tesco-own and Boots-own as well as Pampers (not exactly brand-loyal when it comes to nappies, me!) |
