Advantages: Everything! Very good quality, excellent support for baby leaving parents hands free

Disadvantages: None.

Our son has loved bath time since he was very little. We had always used an ergonomically shaped bath support and found he loved the freedom it gave him to splash about and meant our hands were free to wash him in between splashing! When he started to try sitting up in it we knew it was time to look around for something else. We thought about just sitting him in the bath with us supporting him, but he is a very wriggly baby so would slip about and we were worried about him slipping under the water. It would also mean our hands were no longer free to wash or play. We then looked at a swivel style seat, but a few of my friends were already having problems getting their little ones in and out of them, and as our son is big for his age we realised that was a non-starter. I then discovered the Aquapod, and although it cost more than we had decided to pay it seemed so much better than our other options so we decided to give it a try!

The Aquapod is available from Mothercare and bought new costs about £24.99. It is suitable for babies over 6 months old or who can sit unaided. The Aquapod is available in 2 designs; blue with a duck design or pink with a flower design. It comes in 2 parts, a long bath mat which easily covers the bottom of the whole bath and a support seat which has a shaped back support and a t bar front support. The mat has 2 holes in it which the seat slots into. The mat and seat are secured to the bottom of the bath by suction cups which give a very firm connection. The Aquapod also has an inbuilt temperature gauge, or "hot spot". On the blue model it is one of the ducks, which changes to say "too hot" to insure your baby's bath is always at the right temperature.

This bath seat offers excellent support for your baby. The seat seems to be made from the same type of material as Bumbo seats, so is comfortable for baby and not too hard. As long as baby is able to sit up the support will keep them in a good position while still giving them the freedom to play. The front bar means they won't slip forward. Open side access means it is very easy to get baby in and out, but doesn't allow baby to fall or slip out. It also makes it much easier to wash baby.

The long mat allows an older sibling to sit in the bath safely at the same time as your baby allowing them to interact. This also means you will get a lot of use out of the Aquapod and will be able to use it for a long time so you get your money's worth out of it.

I am so glad we bought this for our son. I didn't think it was possible but he actually loves his bath even more now!

Summary: Excellent seat that offers good support for baby and leaves your hands free for play and washing
