Mothercare Aqua Pod
Advantages: Fun, safe, bright, stress-free!
Disadvantages: Nothing major.
I didn't discover the genius of this invention until my son had been sitting up unaided for a few months. I'd previously used one of those lie down frames with a terry towelling cover and was getting tired of rinsing it out, wringing it and finding somewhere for it to dry every day. I switched to a foam moulded bath seat, which went discoloured and smelt of damp after a few uses. I stumbled across the Aqua Pod whilst browsing in Mothercare and am so glad I did!
It's brightly coloured with cute fish on which my son loved to look at (I think the girls' one has flowers). The colours fascinated him- and set my bathroom tiles off nicely!
The suckers are completely reliable (you have to prise them off the bath surface after use) meaning that your baby is secure in his non-slip seat/mat.
The shape is ideal- really comfy for your little one to sit and play, and I've seen pictures in the ads of an older child sitting at the other side on the flat part of the bath mat, so you can have your baby's older sibling splashing away in the bath too!
It has a temperature gauge built in- one of the fish change colour as you add the water and the words 'too hot' will appear.
Easy to wash baby- you can reach all of his skin (just need to lean him slightly for a bottom wash!
Takes the stress out of bath time- you both have your hands free and can enjoy yourselves. My son always loved the bath, but I imagine if there were any bath time woes- this product may have helped to conquer them!
The shape of the seat is handy for when you've finished using the pod as you can flip it upside down and hook the seat over the side of your bath, leaving the mat at an angle draped into the bath- drainage/drying being easier this way.
Long lasting. I used mine for about 8 months and it still looks brand new.
Well sought after. Mine is currently online being auctioned and has already brought half the price I bought it for!
Nothing major but I personally think the temperature gauge is a little over cautious! It tells you the water is too hot when my elbow considers it to be luke warm. But really, this isn't a bad thing- better safe than sorry.
Over all- this is an excellent safety product and also great fun- both baby and parent have their hands free so that you can both play and splash away! Well worth the money (about £30) and if you look after it- sell it on afterwards!
Summary: Makes bathtimes easier and more relaxed for everyone involved!
