Advantages: Long Strong Mat, long lasting, easy to use
Disadvantages: Expensive
We purchased the aquapod after seeing our friends one and hearing their good comments on it, they had the duo version as had twins but the principal is exactly the same.
Our daughter had used an ergonomically shaped bath seat from newborn but at around 5 months she could sit up well unaided. When it came to bath times being the nosey character that she is she was increasingly trying to sit up in her seat and so we decided it was time to move onto the next stage. After looking to see what was available on the market there didn't seem to be an awful lot of choice and remembering what our friends had said we decided to go with the aquapod.
Bought from our local mothercare store at £29.99 it is a little on the pricey side but we feel we are going to get lots of use from it. It has loads of sucker pads on it which is great for holding it in place in the bath, there are 5 much larger ones around the base of the seat area which are a little tricky to prise off the bath when finished with but i suppose this is good in that the mat is definitely not going to move anywhere when baby is using it. This mat gives our daughter the freedom to sit up on her own with the safety of the bar and back support should she need it, she finds the mat interesting to look at as can see the colourful ducks on it, one of which is a built in thermometer which turns colour and says 'too hot' on it when the water is too hot, although ours always shows that as our daughter likes the water to be on the warmer side so think this is highly sensitive.
The aquapod enables parents to have 2 hands free when bathing baby and you don't have to worry about trying to support a slippery baby.
It is recommended from 6 months but our daughter started using this slightly before this as she was confident and strong at sitting up unaided.
Summary: a great addition to bathtime to allow parents 2 hands to wash baby and give them freedom
