Nice idea - but really just a towel with a folded corner (Mothercare Cuddle and Dry Bath Robes)

When my daughter was tiny , I was gifted with a few of thee. Essentially, they are small child sized towels, with one corner folden over to make a hood - and to use, you simply pop the hood on baby's head, and wrap the rest of the towel around the child rather like a dressing gown, getting them warm and snugly wrapped up quickly, and ready to carry .

Now, we all know that we lose most heat from our heads - and babies follow the same principle . It's important to not shock the baby by suddenly going from a warm environment to a cold one, and these robes I felt made the move from bath to bedroom much more cosy and hassle free.

I found these very easy to wrap my daughter in . However, although these were wonderfully soft at first, and quite fluffy, after a few washes they seemed to become quite scratchy. Whether this was down to the way I was washing them, or to the product itself, I have no idea . Despite this, I found they were very absorbant, drying baby quickly, and once used they could simply be hung on a towel hook and would dry out very fast .

A 3 pack of these is currently £11.99 on the mothercare website - however, while I think these are a nifty little invention, I think that any person handy with a needle could simply sew a corner of a towel into a hood and produce a similar product . While I was very grateful for these as gifts, I can't see myself ever choosing to buy these should I have another baby - especially as they were quite small and by the time my daughter wasa few years old, really too small to be practical .

These are a great idea - the hood is useful, but they can be so easily made from any old bath towel, and in all honesty I would probably recommend making your own over buying these!
