Advantages: Comfy, suitable for most baths, easy to use
Disadvantages: Draining problems
We knew almost nothing about babies when our daughter came along and so we were a little bit naive about some of our purchases. However, this foam support for the bath is one of the must have essentials for any newborn as it makes your life a million times easier!
It's suitable from newborn so the littlest of babies can lie on this and have the support needed so mum or dad has a hand free to wash/splash/do whatever they need to do. This was perfect for us as it was often one of us who would give our daughter a bath and without the support, I have no idea what you would do as I would have had to support her with two hands.
They are non slip and we didn't really have any trouble with our daughter slipping until she was reaching 4 months and wanting to sit up at all times. She was very early at crawling at 5 months so the bath support wasn't actually suitable until she was 6 months like mothercare advertise. I'm sure this was more to do with our daughter being so active rather than mothercares false advertising! As it says to stop using it when your baby becomes active or leans forward, we had to stop using it rather early. However, it was fantastic in those early days!
We had a baby bath for our daughter and it was pretty much perfect size even though it wasn't a mothercare bath. So many places are size specific and things are only compatible with their own makes but this definitely wasn't the case. Our friend had bought one of these too and had the little boy in the adult bath with it and they were also fine.
My only little criticism is that the foam didn't always drain properly and we would always have to wash it thoroughly before using it. This wasn't a major problem, just a little inconvenience but then you want to make sure everything is clean for your baby anyway.
It's priced at £6.99 which seemed a little bit expensive at the time but it was definitely value for money. I have no idea what we'd have done without it!
Overall, I would recommend this to anyone with a small baby as these give you perfect support whilst giving you a hand free to do whatever you need.
Summary: I would recommend this to anyone.
