Advantages: made in the UK, breatheable unlike rubber pants, extremely easy to use, super fast dry time

Disadvantages: does not make an extra large size for older toddlers

Nature Babies are made in the UK, which was a major plus when we considered getting some extra nappy wraps for DD. For those not in the know, cloth nappies have evolved. You can either use a flat nappy such as a terry or an American style prefold, these have to be folded into shape, or a shaped nappy that is shaped like a disposable, but washable. The wrap is the water resistant outer that has replaced rubber pants of days of yore. Modern nappy wraps are made of breatheable fabrics such as cotton or polyester that has been treated with a laminate type coating, or of fleece or wool.

Nature Babies wraps actually come in two types: ordinary wraps, and stuffables. The ordinary Nature Babies wrap is great for shaped or pad folded flat nappies, and is made of a polyurethane coated polyester inner with the outseide being polyester or a polyester/cotton blend, depending on the fabric. By this I mean your choice of print, as Nature Babies wraps come in several adorable prints, from an ordinary white to a twinkling planets print, or even a leopard print! With over a dozen to choose from, you can have fun selecting what to put on your baby's bottom. Well, you need to have something to entertain you during this chore!

The ordinary type wrap comes in three different sizes so you can get a better fit as your baby grows, without it being too loose and gaping and causing leaks, and without having to buy a million different sizes either. It closes via a system of resin snaps, called poppers, meaning that a little Houdini will find it difficult to get out of! Leg gusseted as well for optimal containment of even the worst possible nappy accident! This makes it the ideal pocket nappy for newborns, who are prone to runny explosions.

They are very durable and can be used on a second child, or sold on via Ebay or an online nappy buy and sell forum to fund the purchase of the next size up, as they maintain roughly 75 percent of their purchase price on the second hand market if treated well. You wash at 40 to 60 degrees and air dry these, on a cold wet winter day, they dry over the bath in less than 1/2 an hour. You can see what they all look like here: http://www.twinkleontheweb.co.uk/acatalog/natureba bies.htm

The stuffable type wrap made by Nature Babies is usally found listed under the All In one nappy section of online nappy shops. Basically, this is because it is made more like a waterproof nappy without the absorbent stuffing. It has a PUL (polyurethane laminated polyester) outer, and a microfleece inner. The fleece is soft and breatheable next to your baby's skin, and makes for a stay dry effect. No matter how soggy the stuffing is, your baby will have dry skin. Because the fleece and the PUL are breatheable, your baby will not overheat from the fleece.

When you look at it, it looks like a wrap with the fleece inner, only with an opening at the back waistband forming a pouch. Here you stuff your terry, prefold, or whatver you choose into the inside, then simply put it on your baby the same as any nappy. This makes for an easy to use system that has the simplicity of an All In One combo type nappy, but the ability to quickly air dry or tumble dry. It comes in a limited number of prints as well as plain white. At £9 per wrap, it is slightly more expensivethan many wrap options, but the fleece makes it a good value, and it's easy to just "pop" on feature makes a prestuffed Stuffable a popular nappy and wrap combo with child minders and nurseries, as well as dads left with baby!In addition the leg gussets, it is also gently elasticated all the way around the waist area for maximum comfort and containment. All elastic in the wraps are covered in fabric, making it ideal for latex sensitive skin.

It comes in three sizes, but the fact that the fleece is part of the wrap means you must change it with every nappy change, so you will need at least 10 if you are going to wash every other day as your sole system, making it that little bit more costly still. This is of course also offset by the cheapness of the stuffing, prefolds and terries being the best choice for maximum absorbency and costing extremely little. It is advised to wash at 40, though 60 is acceptable, and air dry or dry on low in the tumble drier. http://www.twinkleontheweb.co.uk/acatalog/Nature_B abies_Stuffables.html has a good picture of one of the prints. being PUL, it is not advised to soak, so merely rid yourself of any poo down the loo, and throw into your nappy bucket without any water, then wash.

Both style wraps are readily available new from online shops such as Twinkle on the Web, Naturally Nappies, and Plushpants, as well as gently used on Ebay or the nappy Buy and Sell forum on UKParents.

Summary: Best pocket nappy for newborns and fewer airmiles than a Fuzzi Bunz
