Advantages: Great performance and fit

Disadvantages: Tabs don't stick when rolling up, not widely available

Cut short on holiday when using cloth nappies i had to relent and go out and buy disposables. Determined not to line the pockets of Huggies and Pampers i entered Boots on a mission. I was looking for Moltex nappies (they are a bit more eco friendly) but there were none. Instead in a little nook at the bottom of the nappy shelf I found Nature Babycare.

At £5.98 each for a pack of 30 Size 5 and 32 Size 4+ i grabbed one of each. Yes they are about £1 more expensive but i believe that we should be taking better care of the environment and i also believe that if these nappies are much more natural and not as chemical laden as Pampers then all the better for my kids.

The designs on the nappies are very cute. The outer has a much softer touch than other disposables and they are plain white with little light green leaves dotted all over them. The surface of the outer is apparantly a film made from 100% GM free natural maize. The inner is also nice and soft and the elastic on the legs are soft and stretchy. There is also slight elasticity on the back which helps give a snug fit. I did find them quite big on my 9 month old. He is 21lbs and the recommended weight range is from 20lbs but my son is quite slim and i have this problem with most clothes etc. This slim nappy contained poops well which is normally a problem for me when using disposables and they also last overnight on heavy wetting 4 year olds. The inner is made from natural chlorine tree pulp which helps to wick away wetness. This nappy uses 50% less superabsorbants than leading brands which makes it a slightly kinder alternative. One flaw of this nappy is the fastening. They fasten on baby superbly but when changing one has the habit of rolling it up and using the fasteners to secure it but the fasteners w ill not stick to the outer surface so the nappy stays open. Its not a major flaw but it was something that I didn't like.
The packaging urges people to spread the word as they don't rely on advertising. Nature Babycare boasts that their nappy is made from 70% natural materials. I do feel however that this doesn't make them as environmentally friendly as brands like Wiona but it is a step in the right direction.
Nature Babycare nappies were created by Marlene Sandberg, a mum from Sweden. In 1998 Naty launched the nappy. In the 2006/2007 Mother & baby awards they were awarded the Silver medal in Best Disposable Nappy.

The weight ranges of these nappies is pretty similar to others so there are no confusion as to which nappy you need.

Size 1 - 28 pack - 2-5kg (4-11lbs)
Size 2 - 44 pack - 3-6kg (6-13lbs)
Size 3 - 38 pack - 4-9kg (9-20lbs)
Size 4 - 34 pack - 7-18kg (15-40lbs)
Size 4+ - 32 pack - 9-20kg (20-44lbs)
Size 5 - 30 pack - 11-25kg (24-55lbs)

Size ones are classed as newborn nappies and come in smaller packs (which works out marginally cheaper per nappy) at £3.75

Nature Babycare also manufacture more eco friendly products. From disposable bibs and cotton buds to pantyliners and breastpads.

I would highly recommend this nappy in terms of both fit and performance to those looking for a more friendly alternative and Moltex or Wiona is not available.

Thank you for reading

Waitrose also stock these along with the other Nature Babycare range items. Like Harry's mum I didn't find them absorbant enough.

My local Tesco and Sainsburys stock these, I have tried them in the past but they just aren't absorbent enough for Harry x
