Advantages: can be better for the environment, fine in the day

Disadvantages: leak at night!

We use disposables when away from home as it's often too hard to find anywhere to wash and dry our reusables. I decided that I was going to try these as they are allegedly better for the environment. I bought them on 2 packs of 30 for £10 in Boots, though they normally sell for £5.98 a pack. This doesn't seem that much more expensive than normal disposables to me. They aren't widely available in supermarkets though, I've only seen them in the Co-op as well as Boots.

The nappies have a simple design, using the reusable velcro type sealing that means you can have a peak and see if there's a poo without wasting a nappy. They have a predominantly white design on the outside which may be better than some of the colourful designs on other nappies if wearing white or light coloured clothes as it wouldn't show through as much, though it isn't as good as if they were plain white.

The product is manufactured using natural products - chlorine tree pulp and maize film (70%) but it does still use "Super-absorbents", though it reduces the amount by 50% compared to other nappies. If you put it in a biodegradable bag, and with compost, it will biodegrade. We don't really have the facilities to put it in with our compost though, and we found that neither the council where we were staying or our local council will take them with the compost collection. I'm not sure how many will.

So, the important thing, performance. In the day these nappies were fine - they performed as well as any other disposable nappy that I'd tried. However, they were let down at night. In about 45 uses (in total day and night) I've had 4 leaks (2 poo and 2 wet). The cut in superabsorbents that they claim is compensated for with their channel system doesn't seem to work with really wet overnight nappies and I was particularly disappointed with the poo leaks as well into weaning, my little boy's poos are far from the newborn poos that you'd expect to leak.

Summary: I won't buy these again.

excellent review - now that we're down to overnight nappies only, think I'll stick to pampers baby dry!

Despite you giving them 2 stars only and from what you say about them, I think they may be worth a try. I will definitely try them for baby number 2. Good review.
