Advantages: Biodegradable

Disadvantages: Rubbed my baby's skin, lots of leaking

In the early weeks after my son was born I was always intending to use disposables while I got my head around looking after a baby. I chose to use these nature babycare nappies because they are biodegradable and I felt that I would be doing my bit by using kinder disposable nappies. Well.. that was the theory.

Straight after opening the packet I didn't like them. They feel rough to the touch probably because they don't have the chemicals and processes that normal disposables do. Even the edging felt starchy and stiff. The colour is nice though a kind of creamy white because of how they are made I preferred that to other disposables.

The fastenings stuck well and were stretchy enough to get a good fit. If you inspected the leg openings there was no gaping or slack at the tummy line but enough room to get your fingers down comfortably.

However the worst thing about them I think is that they irritated my sons skin. The roughness would leave red marks on him after only a short time wearing them - and the nappies weren't too tight. We also had no end of problems with leakage of poo and wee, which is probably not that unusual with new parents granted, but we were using 5-6 body suits a day. They especially couldn't contain breastfed baby poo and even on aptamil formula the poo is runny and it would shoot out the sides.

After finishing one packet I sent hubby out for pampers. They weren't much better, but they didn't give us leaks every day, but that's another story. I rarely use disposables now but if I did it wouldn't be these, you can get better nappies on the market for the money.

(My son has now been in cloth since 4 weeks old).

Summary: Not a good experience with these nappies
