Advantages: no more lifting heavy baths, or stooping over a baby bath
Disadvantages: you do need to be a little bit more careful
I was lent a baby bath by a friend, when my daughter was born, I probably use this bath about 3 times! This was due to the fact that I had difficulty in lifting the bath, either to fill it or to empty it, it took ages using a saucepan! Baby baths are extemely heavy even if you've put a minimal amount of water in them! I had problems lifting things due to the fact that I'd had a cesarian section. Also being fairly tall bending over a bath on the floor didnt do much for my back! I'd thought about buying a changing station with built in bath whilest I was pregnant, thinking this would be an ideal way to bath baby but again my height (I'm 5'11") rules these out they werent high enough for me, I'd be stooping over them! I found the easiest way to bath my daughter as a new born baby was the kitchen sink! It work perfectly for me! it was at the right height, no lifting heavy bathfulls of water - just pull the plug out! And no more stooping over a bath!! Obviously you do need to take care with this method, I ran the bath like I did using the baby bath , by putting in the cold water first and then adding the hot and then checking the temprature. Before putting my daughter in I then tightened up the hot tap and also wrapped a small hand towel around the tap to stop any hot water dripping on to my daughter. Ok so they dont tell you about this method in the books but with care it works very well!

- 08/02/03 excellent idea - I am dreading bathing baby number 2. It's very tough on the back - this may solve many of my problems. |

- 16/09/00 And I thought I hd problems getting trousers that fit me in the leg. Im a mere 5.9!
I ahve always put the baby bath on the draining board in the kitchen because it was easier than moving it around. My sink is a bit too narrow! |
